Question about Garden

1 Answer

Hello the last info. was very helpful however I'm still having a problem starting my snow thrower. I'm getting good spark, in fact it will turn over and run for a second after I give it a shot of starting fluid. I changed the old fuel and check to see if the line was clear. It's 5 hp Tecumseh Snow King engine. It's starving for fuel...do you have any suggestions. We just got 26" of snow last night and I'm desperate to get out there and start clearing it away. Thanks for your help. Paul Maugeri

Electric start on craftsman 9 hp snow thrower won't start engine it sound like it's turning but engine won't start. I can start engine with the pull rope. Started last week with the electric start.

Sounds like you need to replace the gear drive on the starter. If the starter turns but the engine is not turning you have starter problems.

Snow throwers

Just returned from the parts store, they had sold out of drive belts for the auger drive on snow throwers... figured I could help out here;

Wet snow is heavy, duh right? Before you run your snow thrower disconnect the spark plug, for safety. Check the chute, and sand any loose paint rust etc. you want a smooth chute.. paint if needed, let dry 24 hours before use, spray with silicon lube spray, this will loessen the stress on your auger belt and hopefully keep your machine running all season. Good luck!

Carberater for my snow thrower isn't getting gas

The carburetor could be clogged. Try spraying some carb cleaner into the engine to see if it starts. If it does, then some part of the carb may have varnish clogging some of the ports.

Carb adjustment and what is the correct spark plug

If the snow thrower worked last year I would suspect old fuel in the tank. Dump out the old fuel in the tank and put in fresh. Put a squirt of starting fluid in the carb and try to start it. If it fires the ignition is good. Do this a few times to pull the old fuel through the carb and fuel line. When the new fuel gets through the fuel system to the engine it will stay running. The spark plug in the engine will have number on it. Get one with the same number if you want to replace it.

Toro snowthrower 38180 won't start

You have probably fouled the spark plug (got a heap of black carbon on it) remove the spark plug wash in some petrol then use a wire brush vigorously brush between the contact points on the plug then reinstall. & lastly don't forget to push in the choke when you get it fired up next time.??

My MTD 10hp auger will not turn. I adjusted the auger cable by tightening the bolt on the handle. I disconnected the spark plug and checked the shear pins on both sides of the auger. They are both still...

Yes there are 2 belts one for the drive and one for the auger. If you remove the cover on top that is located between the engine and the auger housing you can check the belts. The auger belt has come off the pulley or is broken. Hope this helps you out. Best regards and good luck.

I have a craftman snow thrower, model#536.886122, serial#632722946 and I'm in need of a manuel.

Manuals of Sears products are available through their 'Parts Direct' system and have been resonable in price. The last one for a riding mower cost ~$7.00
