Take the lid off
4 screws usually to the back
pull lid back and off
remove the kick panel
Make sure you have turned the power off or unplugged unit
you are going to have to take the front off where the timer is to the very left and right look down about 4-6 inches you will see a screw on each side remove them
unplug the quick disconnect from the timer attached at the top right
you are going to have to cut the zip tie as well
take the screws out of the bottom of the door there are 2
peal the front off
you will have access to the drum now
behind the drum is your heater
you are going to have to take the belt off of where the motor is
you are going to have to lift the drum up and out...it is sitting in a little holster and it might be a struggle.
after you remove the drum
you will see the heater
in the very back of the cabinet are the screws that hold the heater in place

Turn off power to oven, remove two screws on heating element mount, pull heating element from wall of oven, remove two screws connecting electric leads to heating element.

To install new element, reverse steps. Make sure screws connecting heating element to wires are very tight -- otherwise they will arc.

Removing oven element to install new one

Turn power off at service panel (220 volt circuit breaker). Remove screws from heating element mount on wall of oven. Pull heating element from wall of oven far enough out to see the where the wires/lugs are screwed to the heating element leads. Remove these screws. Replace element. Make sure screws on heating element lugs/leads are tight -- if not tight, arcing will occur.

How do i change the heating element.

The heating element is accessible through the lower front access panel. Disconnect power to the dryer prior to servicing to avoid the risk of electric shock.

Remove the two screws attaching the bottom of the lower front access panel to the cabinet then slide the panel down then off the cabinet. The heating element can now be accessed and repalced.

Remove the screws securing the heating element to the heater box then pull down the heating element to remove it from the heater box.

Disconnect and label the wires for the heating element and the components. Remove the components from the old heating element then transfer it to the new heating element.

Slide the new heating element up into the heater box and secure it in place. Align the slots on the top of the lower front access panel with the locating tabs on the front access panel then slide it into position and secure the bottom of the lower front access panel to the cabinet.

Procedure to replace heating element on 84152 electric dryer

This is a simple repair. Just follow these steps:

1. UNPLUG dryer. Dangerous voltage is still present even with the dryer turned off.

2. Remove the dryer vent exhaust hose and remove the back of the dryer.

3. The heating circuits are located on the right hand side (as viewed from the rear). The heating element is located inside the heater box. Simply remove the mounting screws on the heater box and remove the two wires on the heating element terminals. NOTE: You can leave the two remaining components (Thermal Cut-Out and Hi limit Thermostat) connected on some models. If you need to remove them in order to remove the heating element make sure you label the wires.

4. Locate the mounting screw(s) on the outside of the heater box that hold the heating element in place.

5. With the mounting screw(s) removed the heating element will slide out of the heater box.

6. Insert new heating element, making sure you avoid touching the coil and align the screw holes so you can reinsert the mounting screws.

7. Re-install the heater box and any remaining components.

Now...are you sure you have a bad heating element? Just because a dryer does not heat, does not necessarily mean the heating element is bad. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r630242-dryer_runs_but_not_heat

The most common fail item that causes a dryer heating circuit failure is a blown TCO caused by poor dryer ventilation. Just something you may consider.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Dear Sir/I have a Kenmore Ultra Fabric dryer that has stopped heating. How hard is it to replace the heating element and can a mechanically challenged person like myself do it? For example, what does the...

The heating element is probably accessed through a removable panel on the back face of the dryer. The element looks not unlike the heating element in an electric oven, but smaller. After you remove the back panel, you may have to take apart the heating duct in which it resides, which can be tricky. Or you may be able to remove the bad heating element without removing and splitting the duct. Do you have a friend who is handy to help you?
