This unit is designed to cycle on and off. Are you telling us that the unit just shuts off without reaching set temperature and does not come on again? If so, check the air filter for debris and clean if necessary. It is found on the top of the unit close to the wall. There are two. Next make sure the venting system is not restricted or sucking back in the exhaust in the air intake. The air intake is a slot in the outter chrome "desk bell" shaped metal cap. If you observe the steam being sucked back in, there is your problem. There is a a temperature sensor wire behind the unit enclosed within the sheet metal shroud. Remove the top of the shroud where the air filters are and look down to the lower right side (as you are standing in front of the heater) of the back of the heater and you will see a black plastic probe with a yellow wire attached. This is your temperature sensor. This sensor may be bad. To test it, while the unit is running and set for normal room temp, take your warm hand and cover the probe. The unit should turn off within a few seconds to a half minute. Next take an ice cube and wrap it in a small cloth. Place the cube on the same probe. The unit should turn back on. If not, replace the sensor.

Give us more details and we may be ble to help you more.

My Rinnai 1001F has just developed a loud rattle when turned on. What's the most common problem and who fixes in Manchester NH?

There are two fans or blowers in your unit. The first to turn on prior to the flame starting. The second fan blows out hot air into the room. Depending upon when the rattle starts will dictate which fan is causing the rattle. Any good gas company should be able to help you out.

Help- when heater gets to room temp. the circulating fan stops, but fire remains in combustion chamber and the blower motor or exhaust fan continues to run for hours. Toyostive laser 56MH thanks Jim...

Sir,

If there was a flame in the burner and no circulating fan running the stove would over heat in less than 5 minutes. It would show an EE 6 message. Are you sure there is a flame in the pot? The stove does have a safety feature that allows the combustion fan and circulating fan to run continuously in certain cases. This is a rather extreme case. In any event the circulating fan would be running at the same time the combustion fan was on. To get out of that mode turn the stove off and on again. Now you should be able to restart normally. Keep us posted,

Thanks,

Tom

I have a Laser30 that catches on fire(overheating?) when it stays on high cycle for too long. What could cause that?

If you mean the stove overheats and gives you an EE12 message we can help? If the stove catches on fire you have many other issues. An EE12 message is fixed by cleaning the circulating fan screen on the back of the heater. While back there you should clean the fan blades as well.

Where is the pilot light on Rinnai EnergySaver 1001F

If you smell gas in a Rinnai you have a big issue. This heater is what is called a direct vent heater with an electronic ignition so the combustion chamber is sealed and the smell of gas is an indication that you have a gas leak. Please call a professional today.

Toyo Stove ventilation

Alaska Cat,

No this is not right. You can remove the air hose for a short time until you can get another part, i.e., new flue pipe. The stove tech should have told you he would be back with a new part. As far as the igniter is concerned it could be replaced without removing the heater. Now, if you had flooded the unit trying to start it many times your mechanic might have had to take the unit out just to be able to clean it completely.

Stay warm,
