Sounds like a timing problem with your projector. Both problems are repairable. Contact a factory-trained repair dealer to get them addressed.

The bulb lights up but it does not drop the photo to view

Hi Faye,
There is a "dark shutter" that blocks the light that probably is not opening.
It can be adjusted, but requires some tools and a bit of patience.
The process to adjust the DARK SHUTTER is:-
[1] Remove for the LOWER HOUSING.

[2] Insert a thin SLIDE into the GATE MECHANISM; the DARK SHUTTER should open.
Hope this helps you and you have the slide projector working again soon.
Regards,
Michael

My projector will not show the slide.Everything else seems to be working.

I'm assuming the lamp is lit, the light is just not coming through the optics. You didn't specify the model, but most later manufactured Kodak projectors have a "dark shutter". This feature keeps the blinding light off the screen when you arrive at a spot in your slide tray without a slide in it. It senses a slide dropping into the slide gate, and pops the shutter open. Otherwise the shutter stays closed.
One of 2 things has happened:
1. The spring that "pops" the shutter open has fallen off.
2. The "dark shutter" latch needs adjusting.
You can find the Kodak Service Manuals that will give you instructions for adjustment and or replacing the spring at:

Good Luck!!

My Kodak 4600 carousel slide projector - will not send light out through the lens. There is some gate or baffle or something blocking the light. How can I fix this problem?

It is probably the Dark Shutter adjustment. The procedure is:

Adjusting the DARK SHUTTER

[1] Do the removal for the LOWER HOUSING.

[2] Insert a thin SLIDE into the GATE MECHANISM; the DARK SHUTTER should open.

[3] Check the the PRESSURE PAD is correctly aligned with the the DARK SHUTTER.
[4] Bend the PRESSURE PAD to adjust the alignment.

This is from page 34 of the SERVICE MANUAL, which you can view in its entirety here:

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa! We would sure appreciate a 4 "thumbs-up" rating for this FREE answer. Happy holidays!

Light and cooling fan work. Will not feed or project slides.

Based on your description, it sounds like a problem in the slide change mechanism. If it does not project images, it means the "dark shutter" is not opening when a slide is in the gate. The fact that it does not rotate the carousel tray could be caused by several things in the slide change mechanism. The easiest to diagnose would be the belt that transfers power from the motor to the mechanism has broken or popped off. That would cause all the problems you describe. Your best bet is to take it to a factory-trained service dealer for an absolute diagnosis & repair. I should warn you, however - parts for the AudioViewer series are in very short supply!

The purpose of the "SELECT BAR" on a Carousel 650H is to eject the slide. If you press & hold the select bar it allows you to rotate the tray to the slide you want (or Zero & remove the tray). If you can not advance or reverse the slide tray using either the remote buttons or the buttons on the side of the projector, then chances are you have a broken part in the slide change mechanism. The possibilities are numerous, and really requires a trained tech to analyze your specific failure. Sorry the news isn't better (or simpler!).

Focus Lense Will Not move using the remote or the dial - What can I do? Kodak Carosel model 750H

The KODAK Carousel 750H was manufactured from roughly 1971 to 1981.
If you can push the focus knob toward the outside of the projector and manually remove the lens, then the problem is the gear on the focus shaft (the shaft the focus knob turns). The gear has either cracked and fallen off or is cracked and slipping on the shaft. Either way, the focus shaft needs to be replaced by a factory-trained repair technician.

Don't know what buttons on back of camera are for.

Besides the auto-flash mode, you can select fill flash, flash off, self-timer, and nighttime-view with or without flash.
Press the MODE-SELECTOR BUTTON until the desired indicator appears on the LCD PANEL.
c3015.gif Fill flash and flash off modes remain selected after you take the picture. To cancel the selection, press the mode-selection button or close and reopen the lens cover/flash to return to the auto-flash mode.
Fill flash
c3014.gif When bright light indoors or outdoors comes from behind the subject (backlighting), dark shadows (especially on faces) may occur. Use fill flash to lighten these shadows.
  1. Open the LENS COVER/FLASH to raise the flash and to turn the camera ON.
  2. Press the MODE-SELECTOR BUTTON repeatedly until the FILL-FLASH INDICATOR appears on the LCD PANEL.
  3. Frame your subject within the VIEWFINDER EYEPIECE.
  4. Partially depress the SHUTTER BUTTON. When the FLASH/CAMERA-READY LAMP turns off and the fill-flash indicator on the LCD panel stops blinking, fully depress the shutter button to take the picture.
Flash off
c3013.gif When you do not want to use the flash, especially indoors where flash is prohibited, such as in theaters and museums, or when you want to take twilight scenes or distant subjects that are beyond the flash range, or capture the ambiance of existing light, use the flash-off feature. Use a tripod or place the camera on another firm support, and use high-speed film because the shutter speed in these situations will most likely be slow.
  1. Open the LENS COVER/FLASH to raise the flash and to turn the camera ON.
  2. Press the MODE-SELECTOR BUTTON repeatedly until the FLASH-OFF INDICATOR appears on the LCD PANEL.
  3. Frame your subject within the VIEWFINDER EYEPIECE.
  4. Press the SHUTTER BUTTON to take the picture.
Self-timer with auto flash
c3016.gif Use this feature to include yourself in pictures.
  1. Use the TRIPOD SOCKET to attach the camera to a tripod or place it on another firm support.
  2. Open the LENS COVER/FLASH to raise the flash and to turn the camera ON.
  3. Press the MODE-SELECTOR BUTTON repeatedly until the SELF-TIMER INDICATOR appears on the LCD PANEL.
  4. Frame your subject within the VIEWFINDER EYEPIECE.
  5. Press the SHUTTER BUTTON. The SELF-TIMER LAMP will glow and then blink during the last three seconds of countdown.
    • To cancel the self-timer selection before the shutter releases, close the flash.
    • The self-timer automatically turns off after the shutter releases.
Night-view with flash
c3012.gif In this mode, the camera balances the flash and existing light exposure so you can take beautiful pictures of people at sunset or at night. Use a tripod or place the camera on another firm support, and use high-speed film because the shutter speed at night will most likely be slow.
  1. Open the LENS COVER/FLASH to raise the flash and to turn the camera ON.
  2. Press the MODE-SELECTOR BUTTON repeatedly until the NIGHTTIME-VIEW INDICATOR with flash appears on the LCD PANEL.
  3. Frame your picture in the VIEWFINDER EYEPIECE.
  4. Press and hold the SHUTTER BUTTON for 12 seconds without lifting your finger. Note: If you remove your finger from the shutter button before 12 seconds, the shutter will time out immediately.
  5. After 12 seconds, release the shutter button to take the picture.
Night-view without flas
c3011.gif In this mode, you can capture the natural existing light of city-night scenes or fireworks at night. Use a tripod or place the camera on another firm support, and use high-speed film because the shutter speed at night will most likely be slow.
  1. Open the LENS COVER/FLASH to raise the flash and to turn the camera ON.
  2. Press the MODE-SELECTOR BUTTON repeatedly until the NIGHTTIME-VIEW INDICATOR without flash appears on the LCD PANEL.

Yes!! The projector is equipped with a "dark shutter", which means light is only allowed to exit the projector when a slide is in the gate. That eliminates the "white screen strain" on your eyes when no slide is present. Happy New Year!
