Dell ADAMO 13 w/Vista 64 Random power failure...goes dead in 1 second. Battery fully charged. Happened with external power and when on battery. I have latest BIOS v6.0. I ran pre-boot diagnostics and no error codes revealed. The Dell "My Tech Team" experts now want to replace the solid state hard drive. Doesn't seem logical to go there? I think it may be more related to connector to display and in some cases power failure seems to have occurred when display is angled or being angled back at greater than 90 degree angle. Please don't waste my time unless someone has seen and can identify cause of this problem.

If the power totally fails (i.e. power is cut off, LEDs turn off, fans stop, ... etc), then this more likely to be because of a short circuit developing in a failing semiconductor component, or a power supply problem.
However, if the laptop is still running & only the display on its LCD is cut off but the laptop itself stays powered on, then your laptop might be experiencing a failing screen inverter board, a failing screen backlight lamp, or a failing LCD screen cable.

TYPICAL INVERTER FAILURE SYMPTOMS

1. When you turn on the laptop, the screen lights up for a short period of time and then goes dark. You still can see an image but it is very dark, almost invisible and definitely not usable. When you restart the laptop, the screen lights up and then goes dark again. The laptop works fine with an external monitor.
2. Your laptop turns on but the screen remains dark all the time. You still can see a very dim image outline. The laptop works fine with an external monitor.
3. The laptop screen works fine for hours or even days, but sometimes it goes very dark as it mentioned above. When you restart the laptop, the screen works fine again.

Inverter failure symptoms are very similar to backlight lamp failure symptoms and in most cases you cannot tell which one is causing the problem until you replace either the inverter board or the backlight lamp. From my personal experience, inverter boards fail more often than backlight lamps. If you have to guess, replace the inverter first.

    BACKLIGHT LAMP FAILURE SYMPTOMS

    1. The laptop screen lights up only for a short period of time or will not light up at all. The image on the screen is so dim that you can barely see it. At the same time, an external monitor attached to the laptop works fine.

    2. When you turn on the laptop, the screen works fine for a while, then start flickering and the light turns off. Again, there is a very faint image on the laptop screen and external video output works fine.

    3. The screen works but the image has a reddish/pink tone. External video output works fine.

The backlight lamp failure symptoms are very similar to the inverter board failure symptoms. If you have to guess which one is causing the problem, try replacing the inverter board first.

    LCD CABLE RELATED PROBLEMS

    1. The image on the screen appears normal until you move the display up or down. When you move the display, the images on the entire screen starts to flicker, disappear or change collors. As soon as you stop moving the display, the image gets back to normal.

    2. The LCD screen lights up but there is no image at all. The entire screen is blank. An external monitor connected to the laptop VGA port works fine, there is no problems with the external video output at all.

    3. Image on the entire LCD screen is garbled. An external monitor works fine.

Dell adamo 13 Laptop is dead and not powering on

I would verify you are getting the right voltage out of your AC adaptor with a meter. I believe it should be 15vdc. If you are not getting the correct voltage buy a new one off eBay and charge your battery.
If you are getting the right voltage but the unit doesn't power up, remove the battery and check its condition with a meter. If the battery is bad, you may be able to run the laptop with the AC adaptor only.

A problem with my Dell ADAMO 13

is the PC dead?. and screen dead no matter what.? no text ever?
NO dell LOGO? on screen and F12 prompts missing?
is the pC fan inside dead..?
does PC beep
does PC show blink codes with LED lamp anywhere on the PC?
all are clues. evidence that any tech will use to answer why. okay?
ever test it with the battery out?
this PC is now 9 years old.
and both batteries inside will be NO GOOD. (this old and never replaced)
the RTC coin cell will be no good.
and the main battery too, will be end of life, dead , shorted or worse.

if this is all very confusing , get it repaired in PC repair shop.
there are no lack of shops anywhere.

the page in your manual shows:
When the DELL™ logo appears, press <F12> immediately. Select
Diagnostics
from the start menu and press <Enter>.

the service manual on this dell is weak and very POOR.
it says every page, call dell for ever failure even simple failures.
like pop out the RTC coin cell.
THE FAN IS HERE THE RTC IS HERE.
the battery huge is inside too. (dismantlement is necessary)
all the parts key are here, not battery.
the RTC coin is lower left of center.

Dell adamo 13 when using the keyboard on 1 comes21 ,q-wq,on a - sa,z-xz

You will need to change the laptop keyboard, go to www.ebay.com Type: make and model of laptop, and refine search to keyboard. But it would not hurt to attach a external keyboard to be sure.

Green battery light on the archos 5 but when i disconnect it from dock or usb no green lights abd completely dead - won't switch on either in dock or out???

Power green LED light should come on, CHG green LED light should also come on showing the battery is being charged. Leave your unit in Suspend mode while charging it, DO NOT turn it completely off as "Shutting Down.." because it will not charge your battery.

I just purchased an almost new Archos 5 on eBay recently, and the first day I had it, happened to me that I left the unit off and charging on the Mini Dock with external AC power supply, after 13-14 hours the CHG light still wasn't blinking. Then I though maybe I have to leave the unit in Suspend mode rather than completely off, which I did, and in a matter of 3 hours it fully charged the battery.

Again, do not shut down completely the unit, leave it on Suspended mode, or even on, and connected it to your mini dock, after a while the screen will go blank the unit will go into Suspended mode by itself, and after 3 hours on external power supply or 8 hours via USB on PC should be completely charged and your CHG light should be blinking, indicating the battery is charged.

I hope this helped.

Seems to charge but then wont come on

Sounds like you bought a defective battery
You can test for this by removing the battery and holding the power button for 15 seconds. This will restart the charging cycle as if the battery were new. If it still goes red get a refund and a new one.

Try this trick. Remove the battery from the laptop and make sure the ac adapter is not plugged in also. Hold the power button for 30 seconds. Place the battery back in and see if it powers on. If not let me know.

Hope this helps.
