Question about Televison & Video

My Samsung HL-85679W DLP LCD TV has sound but no picture

As off today, my TV has great sound, but no picture. When turning on, it takes a few seconds for sound to come on, I think the back light comes on, but no picture. I have read threads, and decided to unplug the TV power supply from the back of the set. Will this reset what ever is wrong? How long should I leave it un-powered for the 'reset' to be effective? I am having some people over tomorrow to watch the superbowl and am really hoping I don't have to bring up the 27'' Zenith from the basement. I guess we will focus on the food! Any suggestions? Thanks

Look to see if there is a little green light on the bottom of your case, this would indicate the bulb is working, if the light is red, you need to replace the bulb....good luck

I just replaced the lamp on my samsung HL-P5063W (DLP TV)...now the TV will not turn on (no picture...but I do get sound)...when I plug it in, it automatically starts to power on...then it starts making...

Sounds like a bad color wheel. Generally when the color wheel goes bad, when you try and turn the TV on the lamp will ignite for a couple seconds and then turn off. It also makes a rather high pitch squealing noise.

www.Partstore.com should carry a replacement color wheel for your TV

Samsung HL-P5063W makes a whining sound and then goes off

The most common failure in the DLP that makes a whining sound would be the color wheel. They cost about $135 + labor because I wouldn't advise changing it by yourself.

Samsung LCD LNT4042H

Hi Barb,
Unfortunatly the problem you are asking about is a normal happening in our area with customers of mine that use rabbit ear or house mounted antennas ( Normally not cable or satellite dish). This problem sounds to me like a lack of signal strength on certain channels where your loosing your sound. Since your LCD TV is digital it requires a bit more signal strength to produce sound and picture. Maybe a better antenna, or redirection the antenna toward the station transmitter. Hope this helps.
