Question about Altec Lansing Multimedia Computer Speakers

1 Answer

I just purchased a used Logitech Z-340 bass speaker. It has a power cable and what looks like a S-video connector. What kind of cable and where do I plug it in? Also if I need a adapter. Thanks in advance.

Try to go to an electronics store that has converter on your connector. I guess it is something like RCA jack but look for RCA connection and converter for USB plug in type of. Some old type laptop logitech you've bought would be used since some PC has RCA jack plug in at the back of it.
Anyway, look for the one I said earlier, an RCA to USB converter-connector.
Thanks.

I have logitech speakers for my computer. I need a new cable that goes from the bottom of the bass speaker to the two smaller speakers. A couple of the pins are broken on the plug that plugs into the bass...

logitech rarely has replacement parts. and for this model is not for the u.s. distribution so youcan not even call u.s tech support for help. try ebay or craiglist. if the connector is not proprietary you might be able to get a electronic repair shop to repin the connector.

Subwoofer not working

Yea I would say most likely a loose wire going to the bass control, is it accessable to behind the controller easily? if so take a look. they are usually soldered, but it may have been a weak solder point that came loose.

Our logitech z-340 speakers are not working and there's no power?

Plug the satellites into the subwoofer, plug the mini jack into your computer, plug it into a wall out, and turn it on.

Cuts in between on higher volumes & higher bass levels

Sounds like the subwoofer speaker is broken. Opening the subwoofer is difficult, and frankly the effort is not worth it, as the quality of this system is very poor.

Need wires for z-340

I just got one too. I guess I'll tear it apart and post the pinout. Also have a set of Altec Lansing satalites (ACS340) with the same connector (hmmmm, Z-340 -- ACS340... probably the same thing they just changed some pins)

I let you know!

maybe the first step could be checking the subwoofer's fuse.it is located over the power supply connector.

Logitech z-3 speaker system faulty wiring, pls help?

Obviously, the wires/cables have been damaged. Thus, the desired results of the sound system were compromised.Yes, the damage that the wires incurred can be remedied. However, for us to have peace of mind and eliminate the worries of the pc itself getting affected, which is more going to be more problematic, call up the store where you purchased the speaker and inquire from them if they can replace the wires, probably with or without you entailing any additional cost or expense.Logitech is a well known brand and it has a wide array of replacement items that goes with the products they are selling.

Can the cable ends be converted to fit a DVD?

You can certainly purchase a cable or an adaptor to connect the speakers to almost anything - this however is not the issue - z5300 computer speakers have an impedance of 8 ohms, whereas most home theatre systems will be set up to use speakers with an impedance of 4 Ohms or 6 ohms or 8 ohms - using the wrong type in the wrong configuration is very likely to result in damage. Also the speakers contain their own amplifier, and are designed to accept an input that has not been amplified to speaker levels before - most tv/dvd audio output will be amplified, depending on the model, so will almost certainly destroy your speakers unless you have a low amplification output on your tv/dvd. If you post back with the make and model of your tv and dvd player, hopefully i can find the necessary info to describe how you could make the connection if it is possible. Logitech says; "Logitech speakers are powered speakers and are designed to be used with a home computer. However, it is still possible to connect your speakers to many other devices. You can connect any Logitech speaker to any device that has a pre-amp mini-headphone jack. Home amplifiers will normally contain a standard ¼" headphone jack. You'll need to purchase a ¼" to 1/8th" adapter to connect your Logitech speakers to a home amplifier. Note: Under no circumstances should you connect your Logitech speaker system to an amplified output such as the rear outputs of a home amplifier. Doing so may cause damage to your Logitech speakers as well as your home amplifier." Hope this helps - please post back with details :)
