How can I remove clothing wrapped around bottom of agitator?

Try to pull out with pliers or Vice gip. May need to unwind around the agitator.

Trim on blanket caught between agitator and drum. How do you remove agitator on this model?

The agitator simply lifts off the shaft. Grab it and pull upward with a little force, and it'll pop free. Under the agitator you'll find a plastic drive coupler that has a single bolt through the top. Remove this bolt and remove the drive coupler. Whatever got wrapped around it you'll find underneath and should easily come out now.

HI, I have got something wrapped around the base of the agitator and can't get the agitator out to remove it. Can you pls tell me how to to remove it. Jennie

Not sure what brand of machine you have but most have a plastic cap on top of the agitator with a bolt under it. remove the bolt and the agitator should come right out.

Clothes sometimes get under the agitator requiring the removal of agitator to release. Also, clothes get wrapped around agitator

Sounds like your agitator is not assembled correctly. It should not have things getting stuck constantly and it should definitely NOT be so easy to remove. Feel around the bottom edge of your agitator. If there is more than a 1/8 - 1/4 inch gap (roughly), it's not being snapped all the way down. Take a towel and fold it to where it is nice and fluffy. Lay it over the top of the cone part of your agitator. Get a hammer and hammer over the towel (as not to damage the agitator top). A rubber mallet could also be used. Tap firmly until you hear a click or until the gap between the agitator and wash tub reach 1/4 -1/8 of an inch. This should solve the problem.

Hope this info was helpful to you. Good Luck!

This problem is usually caused by the wig-wag not functioning. There are ele celinoids on it and they go bad. If the washer agitates properly but you just dont get the spin cycle, its probably the wig-wag. You can look up the part on sears parts site and see if it is still available or obsolete.

Grandma's nylons wrapped around the bottom of the agitater

now you need to pull upward firmly but hard.  there are small splines holding the agitator in position. carefull if the agitator has two parts to it as there are usually plastic (dogs)inside which could spring loose if you are not careful.
