Question about Dell Dimension 2400 PC Desktop
My computer freezes after booting very frequently. Sometimes it will go an hour before doing so, last night though it locked up 3 times in 20 minutes. By freezing, I mean everything stops working, the screen freezes where it was, the mouse won't move. The only way to shut down is to hold the power button down until it shuts off. I thought I may have a virus but norton, avg, and ca wouldn't find any. I formatted the hard drive and reinstalled windows and still have the same problems. This can be very frustrating when writing a paper and losing everything. Please help. Thanks.
Check inside the case of the computer to make sure that the interface cable between the hard drive and the motherboard are fully connected. Also check to see if the RAM modules are fully inserted into their slots. If not, they try removing them one by one, until the computer starts up faster. If this doesn't fix it, then try a new hard drive, and interface cable.
