The P110 is a construction grade 2-way radio. It was considered one of the best on the market during the 1990s. It came in several versions, including (but not limited to) VHF & UHF; 2 to 8 channels, 2 watt or 4/5 watt models. If your radios are in good working condition, they would be worth keeping. The only consumable would be the battery pack which needs replaced every 2-3 years. (Sidenote: You can check the battery age by looking for a 3 digit number on the battery. The first number is the year and the next two digits are the week of the year the battery was produced. ie. 945 would be either 2009 or 1999 the 45th week.)

Here is a link to the operator's guide for the P110: http://www.qsl.net/bg4aaf/user/motorola/p110S.pdf

Best regards.

Which is better, vhf or uhf

In many business settings you can use either VHF or UHF with success.
VHF: Especially good for people who work somewhat line-of-sight or outdoors. VHF gets around rocks, dirt, hills and trees well and can also be used in many indoor situations.
UHF: While VHF and UHF will both operate line-of-sight up to 2 miles, UHF (450mAH range) gets in and around metal better and even has a better metal punching capability. It also works well in and around concrete structures.

ONE OF MY CP200 RADIOS HAS A STEADY SQUELCH SOUND ON ALL 4 CHANNELS, HOW CAN I FIX THIS?

One possible problem is a bad battery. Try swapping batteries with a known good unit and see if the problem is solved. If it is not the battery, then your radio is likely in need of repair.

You might check to see if your radios were set-up/programmed to have ignition sense. This feature allows the radio to be turned on/off when the vehicle is started or shut off.

Compatibility

If your CP200 has a model number beginning with AAH50R it can be programmed to match the RDU2080d. If your CP200 model number begins with AAH50K, then the answer is no.

The letter R in the model number indicates it is UHF, and on the RDU2080d, the letter U in the model name indicates it is UHF. Both of these radios are programmable, and could be reprogrammed to match one another, if both UHF.

How to get a Talkabout T5720 to communicate with a

The frequency range and operatngmode of the two radios are compatible. To get the Radius operating on a GMRS channel you'll need a Motorola programming cable and software, OR a trip to a Motorola dealer for frequency programming. Considering the cost involved, the 2-watt output of the Radius, and the 1-watt output of the Talkabout, you would be better off performance and cost wise buying a pair of 5-watt GMRS portables.

How can i tell if i have a UHF radio or VHF radio

You can use the model number to tell if you are VHF or UHF. You will still need to know the frequency(s) and PL code(s) your radios have to get radios to match.

VHF model number starts with P93.
UHF model number starts with P94.

The current replacement radio for the SP50 is the CP200. It is construction grade and was made to replace the SP50. There are other radios which will also match the SP50 including (but not limited to) the BPR40 and the new CP185.

How do I Reset my T5000 2 way radio to factory default

The T5000 Talkabout radio default settings are not the same as the CP100 and CLS. The CLS and the CP100 UHF are capable of being programmed to match one another on several frequencies, however, the TalkAbout T5000 is not capable of any of them.

The Talkabout radios, as a general rule, are limited to FRS and GMRS frequencies. The CP100 and CLS are from the business and light consumer divisions. They will do most of the common 56 UHF business frequencies.

If you would like to look at the frequency charts yourself, here are some links.
