Dell insiron1505 monitor goes dark

Could be backlighting, loose ribbon cable, tiny switch that turns the monitor on and off when lid is opened and closed. Even a driver issue. Can you see a "ghost image" of your desktop in a very bright light? Has the laptop beed jarred, dropped, fallen over...etc.?

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop (15.4 in display). Its a close to 5 yrs old. I upgraded to 2GB RAM. Its running Win XP with SP3 I am having problem with my LCD monitor. When I press the power button,...

Hi,

If you see a very faint image at the laptop's LCD screen, it is possible that the Laptop's LCD lid close switch is stuck in the closed position.

In this mode the back-light stays off, even with the LCD lid open. This is to conserve power when the laptop is ON with the LID closed.

Check the LCD lid close switch. It is a small plastic pin located close to the back LCD hinges. Try tapping the lid switch a few times to see if you can turn on the screen back-light. If that does not help, then I would suggest to replace the FL inverter board.

See the layout picture below.

Hope this helps.

Dell Inspiron 1300 - When I re-open the lid,Screen stays Black !

Your laptop either goes to hibernate or sleep mode when you close the lid. Then, when you open the lid up, the screen is still off because your pc already hanged/froze and could not wake up at all (usual problem in vista). Off course, hard shutdown would fix it. But actual fix is under power options on your control panel. Check your current scheme and edit it. There are options there that you can select to "do nothing when closing the lid"

Hope this helps

Screen going blank and laptop freezes.

Go into the diplay properties, under the screen saver tab there is a button marked power, open this. Under one of the tabs there is a section that reads, when I close the lid, under this section set it as never.
