JEM 31 is not heating

Sounds like you have a bad transformer. Magnatron should check less than 1 ohm (with wires unplugged). Diode should check resistance one way and open the other. Must have a proper diode checker for this. Check resistance on the capacitor (make sure it is discharged first). Resistance should come up then back to open, reverse and same thing if cap. is good. Check resistance on transformer windings.

Microwave runs for 5 seconds then shuts down displaying F9 HELP

If the microwave runs for a few seconds and stops the touchpad might be at fault. This is not common. Generally speaking, if the microwave display is working and some of the buttons respond correctly but some don't, the problem is with the touchpad

Turns off after 2 to 4 seconds

Hi, am afraid it sounds like the power control module is bad. The new module retails for about $155, APP has it for $129. You can try replacing the module, or purchase a new microwave. Over the range microwaves start at about $280-$350 and can go up to $1000 depending on brand/features. Microwave installation is typically $35-$50.

Microwave stops after 22 seconds

Not sure what the problem is but I have exactly the same fault with mine. Apparently it's either going to be the inverter, the magatron or both. Cost approx £120 inc callout.

My advice: Get a new one!

I have a GE SpacemakerXL Microwave Oven Model JVM1340. The pad is unresponmsive. When pluged in I get a line of eights and then get the message F 3.

Thanks for the opportunity to help! To see if this fault can be cleared, do the following:

  1. If your unit is plugged into an *outlet (most times, this is located over your microwave in small cupboards).
  2. If it is, unplug the cord and wait about 30 seconds.
  3. Plug your microwave back in and see if the panel now works.
  4. Go through all the initial setups such as setting the time.
  5. If the fault does not reappear, then you are good to go. If the fault reappears, you will have to call service or replace the product.
*If your unit is hardwired, find the circuit breaker and turn it off for 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.

I have a 1994 Pannasonic Microwave Model T994sf . The microwave does not heat and somtimes turns off after 20 - 35 seconds. I chnged the fuse and it still does not heat up. Can you help?

When the cost to repair exceeds the cost to replace, it isn't worth repairing. That Microwave is > 14 years old and chances are the Magnetron tube or the filamant power supply is failing after all the use. If I were you, I would consider buying another Microwave to replace it.. Hope that helps..

Microwave works for 30 seconds and then turns off

The first thing to try is a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power line for a few minutes, plug it back in, set the clock, then try again.

Let us know if the hard reset doesn't fix it.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
