You plug in the drives, you don't have to repair windows just because you added drives.

You can't repair xp it does not have a repair, it only has recovery, and unless you made a recovery disk or have one you can't.

Windows xp is up to SP3.

Did it boot from the disk ? you need to force boot to cd, But try this.

When your BIOS post, first screen, hit the F8 key, and see if you can boot into safe mode.

Then go to start, accessories, system tools, system restore, and restore it.

Any other questions of you have have more details after you try this post back.

The issue can be caused by the damaged system files or hardware device.

I suggest trying the following method to troubleshoot the issue:

Startup Repair from the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE)
1. Insert the Windows Vista installation disc into the disc drive, and then start the computer.
2. Press a key when the message indicating "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD ...". appears.
3. Select a language, a time and currency, and a keyboard or input method, and then click Next.
4. Click Repair your computer.
5. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, choose the drive of your Windows installation and click Next.
6. At the System Recovery Options Dialog Box, click on Repair your computer.
7. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
8. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Startup Repair.

Please continue with the following instructions if the above suggestion does not help:

1. Put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
2. Press a key when the message indicating "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD ..." appears.
3. Select a language, a time, a currency, and a keyboard or another input method, and then click Next.
4. Click Repair your computer.
5. (Click the operating system that you want to repair), and then click Next.
6. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.
7. Type "chkdsk /F C:" (without quotation marks) and click Enter.
8. Restart the computer and have a test.

If the issue still exits, please move to the below steps:

In-place Upgrade Installation
Technically, you won't lose any data to take an In-place Upgrade Installation. In order to avoid any unexpected problem, I suggest you backup your data before taking In-place Upgrade Installation.

1. Start the computer by using the current Operating System.
2. Insert the Windows Vista DVD in the computer's DVD drive.
3. Use one of the following procedures, as appropriate:
• If Windows automatically detects the DVD, the Install now screen appears.
Click Install now.
• If Windows does not automatically detect the DVD, follow these steps:
a. Click Start, type (Drive: )\setup.exe in the Start Search box, and then clickEnter.
Note: (Drive: ) is the drive letter of the computer's DVD drive.
b. Click Install now.
4. When you reach the "Which type of installation do you want?" screen, click Upgrade to upgrade the current operating system to Windows Vista.

Installing and reinstalling Windows

If both of the above two methods do not work on your issue, please contact the manufacturer to check the hardware.

Vaio Tap 20 SSD upgrade

Step 1:

A 9.5 mm drive should work for that, as the 7mm are used mainly in Ultrabooks.

Step 2:

Physically switching out the drive should be no problem, there should be a drive access panel on the back that is accessible via a phillips head screwdriver. Simply take out the old drive and replace the new.

Step 3:

The main problem is copying the contents of the drive to your new SSD. If you want, you can buy a 2.5" harddrive to usb adapter, you can then clone the drive using the instructions found here Cloning. After you have cloned your drive, it should boot when you insert your SSD

I need solution for this problem immediately I installed windows 7 in my PC. after that in My PC DVD RW is not working.

Was the Windows 7 installed from a clean slate or you upgraded from Vista to Windows 7? If you have upgraded from Vista to Windows 7, then this is definitely a driver problem. You can try to update the driver by going to Device Manager, check if the DVD drive is listed. Pull down the drop down list, and right click on the devices listed under DVD/CD-ROM Drives and choose Update Driver Software.
If the DVD drive came with a software bundle (e.g. Nero Burning Application) Try reinstalling these application under Windows 7 Environment.

How to upgrade hard drive

Replacing the HD is pretty easy depending on the make & Model. Look at your owners manual or go to the manufactures web site and get one. It should tell you how.

The difficult part is saving your programs and data since you will loose them. A local shop can remove the disk, clone it onto a new disk and insert it back into your laptop. They shouldn't charge more than $100 plus the cost of a new disk.

Copy WIndows XP from one hard drive to another

Why are wanting to clone your hard drive to another on when all you need to do is install Windows 7 directly onto the new hard drive?
Are you wanting to save all your settings and data before you install Win 7 over the top of XP?

Double check the brand name of your Combo/DVD drive. Try to check the specification of that brand and model of your optical drive.

Actually there are such things that your Combo/DVD drive could not burn. However DVD drives has an option to burn with DVD-R/W and DVD+R/W.

In this case if your optical drive able to burn either of the two different types of disc (which is DVD-+R/W), try another brand of DVD disc like Memorex, TDK and Sony or some other brand which is/are not generic.

Or in one case there would be a big possibility due to the Burning Software that you are using that changes the settings in the registry for your optical drive, have to follow these steps carefully.

1. Click on START then go to RUN and type regedit then click OK.

2. Under "Registry Editor" screen have to select "HKEY LOCAL MACHINE" by clicking the "+" sign.

3. Under HKEY LOCAL MACHINE select "System >> CurrentControlSet >> Class and select the first {4D...} then highlight the selection.

4. After highlighting the selection of the first {4D....} select or highlight on the Lowerfilters and Upperfilters in the right pane window and have to those two (2) filters then have to exit out on the Registry Editor.

5. Restart the laptop and try to burn a blank disc that is not being used previously.

Hope these things help you to determine. Thank you.

If clone burning is successful then rub the dvd with soft cloth and again put it on the drive. If these will not solve the problem then wash it with warm water and a detergent.

I once do these and get the files.
