Question about Cyberhome CH-DVD 300 DVD Player
The most common problem in cases where the device gives you error messages such as "no disc", "bad disc", "disc not recognized" the optical lens needs to be cleaned. You can clean the optical lens in two ways. You can buy a disc cleaning disc or you can clean the lens manually.
If you choose to buy a cleaning disc, you can purchase them in most cases at a wal-mart or just about any electronics store in your local area.
Here is a picture of what the kit may look like:
Every kit looks different, but this will give you an idea of what you will be looking for.
If you choose to clean the optical lens manually, you can check my profile, go to my tips where you can find detailed instructions.
The following picture shows you what the optical lens looks like:
The worst case scenario for a situation like this is that the optical reading circuits/laser have malfunctioned. This is a very expensive part to replace and depending on what you paid for your player, it might be cheaper to buy a new one.
Here is a picture to give you an idea of what optical reading assembly itself looks like taken apart:
You can also find in one of my tips the most common mechanical problems that happen in dvd. If the disc does not spin, it will also cause the player to give you the same errors. Listen to make sure you are hearing the dvd spin up when the machine is trying to read the disc. If you hear it not spinning or starting and stopping a lot the problem could be the spindle motor malfunctioning, which is fixable at a reasonable price depending on what service technicians charge in your area (average $65-90 dollars).
Here is a picture of the spindle (the motor is located directly below it and not show in the picture):
Try cleaning your optical lens first a couple of times to see if that resolves the issue.
I hope this has provided you with a general idea of what the problem is and how you can solve it. If you need further assistance, please feel free to ask.
If you would not mind, please rate my help. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You.

Testimonial: "An excellent response! I tried cleaning the lens and then listened for the 'starting/stopping clicks. In my military opinion, the unit is FUBAR. Thank"
This error can be caused by the 5V being low. Check 5V power supply output. If less tha 4V, replace filter caps on 5V power supply.
