Thank you, yes, my cpu has the 3 jacks you describe, and my computer is configured as you suggest. I just don't know how to plug in the speakers. The left one has one cord with a red plug on the end, while the right one has 3: a purple plug, a green plug and a white one! The green one is plugged into a black adapter that allows for yet another cord to be plugged into it for a 2-into-1 plug in... I think that's the one that goes into the cpu, but don't know what else to plug into it? And then i plug the left red and the right purple into the subwoofer. Don't know what to do with the white cord.

The subwoofer is plugged into the wall by AC adapter, and volume is turned up on it and on the speakers.

    Any other ideas? Thank you.

Depending on your computer, you should have at least three 1/8" jacks on the back related to sound. One is for a microphone input, one is for a line-in from an auxiliary source, and one is an output for the speaker system. If you system has more than these three, it is possible it is configured for surround sound in which case you'll need to set it up for stereo speakers and connect the speakers to the appropriate jack. To ensure your sound card is set up for stereo sound (and not 5.1 surround sound)...(Windows XP, might be different for other OS)

  1. Go to Start
  2. Go to Control Panel
  3. Open Sounds and Audio Devices
  4. On the Volume tab, at the bottom, you'll see speaker settings, click Advanced
  5. In the drop down box, select your speaker setup (Desktop Stereo Speakers).
  6. Click OK for all open dialog boxes.
You should now be configured for stereo speaker usage.

I hooked up the boston speakers 4 plus wolfer and when I play music on You Tube, the rear speakers don't play. They work in the sound "test." They also work when I set the speakers...

the sound on utube is only stereophonic, hence you will get only stereo putput. If you play anything recorded as quadraphonic or above all your speakers will give sound output.

make sure your speakers leads are properly seated and are not faulty
if your computer came with a motherboard disk the sound drivers could be on it
control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select appropriate speakers or audio you will find 3 drop down lists make the necessary adjustments there or control
panel, administrive tools, computer management, device manager, sound video and game controllers could be a yellow question mark? right click to re-install drivers

I'm trying to figure out how to hook up my Boston Micromedia system to my computer without the directions and am not sure if I need software to download to make it work. Please help!!

It suppose that you got the cables to do the job!
So i guess you got one.
In the back of the PC is a female plug(normally is green) here(after you do all cable plugs on the device) you plug the green male that comes from the sound device.

I Do Not Know How To Connect Boston Micromedia To My Computer

The Boston Micromedia speaker set comes with two speakers (right and left),a subwoofer, and a complete set of cables to connect everything up.

1.) Position the speakers. The two small speakers typically are spaced equal distance apart on a desk/table top to the benefit of the listener. The sub-woofer typically rests under the surface, on the floor for example.

.) Connect the cable sets to the back of the two small speakers along with the speaker feet.
Note: the small speaker with the volume control knob will have three cables coming from it. This will be the "right" speaker. The other speaker will have a single cable and will be the "left" speaker.

2.) The cable ends will be color coded to match the jackson the sub-woofer. Match up the color coded cables to the respective colors on the subwoofer as follows:

(a) White cable end (left speaker) to white jack on sub-woofer.
(b) Red cable end (right speaker) to red jack
(c) Purple cable end (input) to the purple jack
(d) Green cable end (computer out) to the computer's microphone output jack.

Note: if any of the cables are too short to reach their jacks for whatever reason, an extender cable with a female and male end can be purchased relatively inexpensively to make up the difference in distance.

3.) Power up the system (plug in power cables to the sub-woofer and wall), play some music, and adjust the sub-woofer sound (control knob) to suit listening pleasure.

A nice little set of speakers, I had mine for some years now and continue to enjoy them. Good luck!

Getting humming sound from all speakers. BA 700569 MicroMedia

It sounds more like the power supply is at fault (a filter capacitor dried up), but it'll take an oscilloscope to verify that - take it to a TV repair shop (if you can find one) or find a ham radio operator who still has test equipment. (If it happens even from an iPod, it'll be easy to troubleshoot, since the person doing it can use any audio source to cause the problem.)

Boston acoustic BA735 speaker problem

Dear oneeyemike77

I am sure that it is not due to one line around. Just check weather the power is on and also check the sound settings on ur pc, it may have been muted or the sound level must have been reduced. You can also check your speakers by connecting it to a mini player or a mp3 player. Dont worry pal, this will surely get u working....!!! Please rate me.

Thankyou
