Question about Dell Inspiron 1526 Notebook

2 Answers

Notebook does not boot up at once when turned on. Dell logo does not appear but the power button is lighted. However if you turn it on and let it stand 5 minutes and then turn it off and then turn on again, the laptop turns on immediately and works perfectly. The problem comes back only if you turn off the laptop for a long time because when you just turned it off and then turn it on right away, it turns back on smoothly. It is like you need to warm up the laptop first for 5 minutes before it will start to work smoothly. What do you think is wrong?

Dell Inspiron 1440 notebook cannot start.

I have seen these symptoms before when the hard disk drive has failed. It will hand on the POST screen (The part with the DELL logo) for slightly longer than usual due to fault with the drive, after that it will attempt to boot and error from the hard disk so quickly you see nothing but the laptop appear to cut out. Although the hard disk is the most likely thing to be at fault these issues could potentially be caused by any one of the parts within you laptop being broken.

If you are fairly tech savvy try downloading this utility "Seatools" http://www.seagate.com/support/downloads/seatools/ burn it to a bootable CD. Put the bootable CD in you DELL laptop and boot off it, by pressing F12 and selecting to boot from CD/DVD drive. Then run a "Long test" once this test is complete the software will advise you whether the hard disk is faulty or not.

If you are not confident in trying this I would recommend taking the laptop to be diagnosed by your local computer repair business.

Here are Few steps which can use to trouble shoot your laptop no display problem.

1. Connect a VGA
cable for external monitor and check if you can see any display on External Monitor.
2.Take out your RAM and Clean it with Pencil Eraser and Put it back. If Possible try with different RAM,

My dell won't boot up. All that comes up is a blank screen. Any suggestions?

Remove any CD/DVD disk from the CD/DVD drive.

If pressing the ON/OFF button causes any lamps to light, then the external AC adapter probably is OK.

If pressing the ON/OFF button causes a message like "press <DEL> (or <F10>) to enter setup mode", then press that named key.

Once inside BIOS SETUP, check that the disk-drive has been "detected". If not, then the disk-drive could have "died".

If all else fails, take the computer to a qualified technicican.

POWERS UP BUT THEN FREEZES AFTER ABOUT 4 MINUTES

Need to test and isolate where it exactly freezes? After dell logo, after windows logo or while inside windows? Now, if it only freezes inside windows try to turn off your windows updates and antivirus first and check if still freezes, if yes then try booting in safe mode, reboot system then keep tapping on f8 once dell logo appears. Check if laptop keeps freezing in safe mode. Please let me know.

First you'll have to power off the system.
Please power on the system and as soon as you see the Dell logo please tap the F2 button 3 - 4 times.
The computer will go to the system setup. Check if the screen goes blank here.
If the screen stays on then try this.
1. Please power off the system.
2. Please power on the system and as soon as you see the Dell logo please tap the F8 button 3 - 4 times. You'll reach the Windows Advanced Boot Options Menu on the screen.
3.Select Safe mode with Networking.
4. Select Administrator at the log in screen.
5. Warning dialog box with the message Windows is running in safe mode. appears. Click the Yes button.
6. The desktop appears with the words Safe Mode appearing in all four corners.
7. Uninstall the video drivers and restart the computer.

Hang at startup (BIOS)

Hi,
Yes laptops can work without battery.
If the laptop is hanging on Dell logo and entering into BIOS then normally it is HDD issue but you have already checked without HDD so might be it is RAM or Board issue.
You can check with PC 133.
Please check your Laptop with minimal boot once (by removing all external hardwares like modem,tv tuner or graphics if any) and if you are geting the display one of the devices is causing the issue whch could be diagnosed by connecting one by one.

Booting problem

Try putting the computer into safe mode by holding down on the F8 button and selecting safe mode during the boot process. Once you get to the safe mode screen and windows appears, restart the computer.

If that doesn't fix the problem you will have to restore Windows.
