1. Make sure that the task scheduler is enabled. If you are un-sure, go to Start/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/ Click on Services/ Then in the list of services make sure the Task Scheduler is enabled & restart the service by clicking on Start. Close the Services Folder & go back to desktop.

2. Then go to START/RUN/ and TYPE IN cmd (without the quotes) CLICK OK. This will bring up the DOS Command screen.

3. You will need to copy and paste this entry in at the flashing cursor
rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks (without quotes) and press ENTER.

4. Now reboot three times and your Prefetch folder will be rebuilt. (It takes 3 reboots for the prefetch folder to work out what it needs)

Why is my computer slow

Netbooks are in general "slow" compared to laptops.

First , your computers cpu is a 1.6GHz N270 Intel Atom Processor which ?s a single core processor.

Second, it has "only" 1GB DDR2 (RAM) at 533MHz speed, which is not much compared to dual core and quad core processors, that operates with more than the double speed.

Third, as you use your netbook and get more and more applications on it, Windows registration database gets slower because it has to go throug this database at every start up.

Even applications you have uninstalled and not use anymore is kept as obsolete files in the registration database.

As I understand the Acer Aspire One Netbook uses Windows XP.

If so, there is two things you can do to speed up your computers performance.

You can purchase a PC System Utilities Software such as "Advanced Sytem Optimizer" to clean up your computers registration database and do other tune ups. See this site :

If you are using either Windows XP or Windows 2000 (and only these two OS) you can perform the socalled prefetch trick .

Push the START button and select RUN

In the field write PREFETCH and hit the return button

A folder opens with all PF files. Delete them all, close the folder, empty your recycle bin and restart your computer.

It will take a little longer to open your computer than usual, but only the first time after you have deleted all the prefteched files. This is normal so do not worry.

Next time you start your computer you will see that it has been faster in the start up.

This is the best explanation I can come up with.

I hope this will help you.

Tuneup utilities prefetch data deleted windows 7 slow

Basically, the prefetcher is a Windows component that speeds up the boot process and start times of programs by prefetching data.

I recommend you never delete the prefetch data.

If you or another program delete prefetch data or the folder, this can slow the computer down until the prefetch data is rebuilt. Windows rebuilds this each time on reboot and during program start ups.

If you are using a cleanup utility, turn off any options that delete prefetch data. In CCleaner, this option is unchecked automatically. TuneUp 10 does not have an option for prefetch data and does not seem to delete this data. You may receive a message when using the program that states, "prefetch data deleted" which is informing you the prefetch is empty.

Prefetch data deleted tuneup windows 7 how can i solved?

1. Turn off the option to clean the Prefetch in Tune-Up Utilities

2. Windows will need to re-create all the prefetch files again, thereby slowing down Windows during boot until the new prefetch files are created

Hi I have win 7, CCleaner, kaspersky 2011 & tuneup utility 2011 the tuneup says "prefetch data deleted" pls help me how to troubleshoot this problem

It is absolutely safe to delete the Prefetch Data. Each time you turn on your computer, Windows keeps track of the way your computer starts and which programs you commonly opened. Windows saves this information as a number of small files in the prefetch folder. The next time you turn on your computer, Windows refers to these files to help speed the start-up process. You may also change the setting of Tuneup Utility not to clear the prefetch data. Rest assure that it is safe either way and doesnt have much impact on high speed systems.

Let me know if any further clarification is required.

Good Luck!
Dont forget to appreciate the solution if I could have been of any help!

Tuneup utilities says that prefetch data deleted, but when i explore the hard disk i find it i suffer from slow startup windows 7... i tried everything but still slow

This is expected.

1. Turn off the option to clean the Prefetch in Tune-Up Utilities

2. Windows will just need to re-create all the prefetch files again, thereby slowing down Windows during boot and program starts until all the new prefetch files are created

There are few possible reasons: 1. The drive is full and fragmeted Solution: Try deleting unwanted files and burn the bulky files to a CD/DVD disk will reduce disk load. Do a deragmentation. [right click a disk drive to see properties > defragmentation.] 2. Too much softwares installed or large number of fonts installed. Solution: Install only required number of programs and fonts. Uninstall unused programs. 3. Viruses or malware affected.Your PC may be infected with viruses or malwares Solution: In this case install a good antivirus program and perform a full system scan. Also try some powerful spyware detecters. This will help reduce risk. 4. Too much servces running in the background. Solution: To reduce the number of services starting at windows startup go to > Right click > My computer > Select manage > select servoces In this tab see all the services running with windows start up. right click any service that you don't want and change its properties to manual or disabled. you can also delete the startup progams from Start > All programs > startup just delete the programs that you do not want at start up. this could solve your problem
