The ctrl + 10 combo disables the touchpad, but not the accupoint mouse which is defective. It's part of the keyboard. Please tell me how to disable it.

  • MCR700 Feb 09, 2010

The problem is that the mouse is moving by it's self. I have read that a new key board will fix the problem, and i have read that disabling the pointing device on the keyboard fixes it. The function key disable does not work. I need to actually disable the pointing device in the keyboard. It's an Alps pointing device. Is there some way to prevent the driver from loading all together?

  • MCR700 Feb 09, 2010

I uninstalled the alps pointing drivers, now will the system load some generic windows xp drivers for the device? How can i disable those?

  • MCR700 Feb 09, 2010

when i uninstall the device, it automatically re-installs on next boot? How can I stop this?

  • MCR700 Feb 09, 2010

The enable/disable is grayed out. I cannot change it. When I uninstall the device, it re-installs upon re-boot. Need a solution.

The driver worked, thank you for the help

Pressing Fn + F9 keys disables it. Pressing them again re-enables it back.

You can disable the device in the Mouse applet in the Control Panel. If you open the Mouse applet, look for a specific tab named "Device Settings". In this tab, you can disable the device.

Another alternative is to uninstall the device in Device Manager, & uninstall its drivers from the computer.

What operating system are you using?

  • Mohamed Omran Feb 09, 2010

Did you try to right-click the device in Device Manager & select Disable from the pop-up menu?

I found this version of ALPS driver disables the touchpad when a USB mouse is attached to the laptop:

Try installing it on your computer & see if it will resolve your problem.
I assume that since your pointing device is not working properly, you use a USB mouse instead.

Hello

in most cases there is a button nearby the mouse that lets you turn it off, or then its a combination of FN + one of the F keys (F1 to F2) that will switch off the mouse and switch it back on aswell.

sometimes the internal mouse may get turned off if you plug in a external mouse.

another way to get rid of the mouse would be to disconnect its cable inside the laptop. But that is more advanced.

Your touchpad is going. :( Outside of replacing it, you'll probably want to disable it and use an external wireless mouse. There are models now that have a tiny receiver than can be left in the USB port when the laptop is stored away. Not a fix, but a workaround.

Hello, I just received a used Toshiba tecra 9000 laptop and it is missing the "mouse" and I need a part number so I may buy one.

Since the Tecra 9000's mouse is actually the Accupoint that's located within the keyboard, it cannot possible be missing the mouse (unless it's missing the keyboard).
Unless you're missing the Accupoint cap. Only place to order them is from Toshiba Support.

Cursor moving erratically

Sounds like your internal mouse maybe be malfunctioning and due to the pressure on the spacebar is causing the erratic movement.

To fix this you can enter your BIOS with the F2 key at startup.

Continue through until you find some input options to disable the internal mouse.

TMOUSE (01) error - Win 98 bootup

Try booting using the step-by-step confirmation instead of safe mode. Skip loading the mouse driver that is causing the error. You won't have a mouse when you get booted up but you can use keyboard commands to navigate everything while you try to reload drivers.

Terca M1 Loose Display Hinge

The hinge can't be repaired, but it can be replaced. It's feasible to do it yourself if you're tech savy. Just look online for guides that show you how to replace the hinge on any laptop and you should get an idea how to do the replacement step by step for this specific model. Most hinge mechanisms use the same system. I work for Computer Repair NYC and i have to fix this problem a lot, you can get the hinge on ebay.
