When turning on the camera there is no display on the view finder or thru the lens. If trying to record something, it is just black. what do i need to do to resolve? have removed battery, tape, card, changed out all again, still can't see anything being recorded.
Same problem with ZR50MC developed recently. Appears to be the widespread CCD image sensor failure with Canon devices. Canon includes ZR60 but not ZR50 in recall ending 12/31/10. I emailed Canon on cost to fix.Same problem with ZR50MC developed recently. Appears to be the widespread CCD image sensor failure with Canon devices. this means there is a problem with your lens system.
If Lens system seems ok then problem may be with the CCD/CMOS repairing which will be pretty costly and will need a expert hands to fix it.
The s7000 has three different display modes: Screen, viewfinder, and off. Screen is for looking at the big screen, viewfinder is for looking through the digital viewfinder, and off should turn off all the displays. Try pressing the DISP button once. That should reactivate the screen and make it possible to use the camera again.
most digital cameras have the option of either viewing either thru the large screen OR thru the regular old view finder. There should be a small button that will let you toggle between the two. Hope this helps!
dear kwilsey,
just turn on your camera and look at the front side of camera.i.e just note tat your lens shutter is opened. if lens shutter is opened then prob is with your ccd devices. Contact the nearest authorised service centers.
at the back of the camera next to the view finder (bottom right hand corner) is a button and icon marked SEL.
pressing this button toggles the lens image from the view finder to the lcd screen and back again.
IF neither view is available then I suspect your camera needs some TLC at a repair shop.
hope this helps.
1- record something and make sure there sound
2- playback the what you just recorded
3- if no video but sound is ok, send it back to Sony. They will fix it for free (CCD sensor is no good)
