refill ink cartridges 4 hp photo smart c3180 - 918b476.jpg

You need to pour 3ml of each color if you have a 342 and up to 5 ml if you have a 343. Magenta is red, cyan is blue. As for the black one, if you have a 336, only one hole has a sponge. You can always check that by inserting the needle in the hole- if you feel pressure, there is a sponge. If not, it's not a refill hole, do not pour ink in it! If you have 338, you have 5 holes and you can pour a bit of ink in each of them. Pour max 10ml if it is 336 and 15ml. if it is 338.
Slowly pour the ink in each refill hole. If it starts leaking, either from the refill hole or the print head), don't panic, just remove 1ml or 2 of ink. When you are done, gently wipe the electric contacts on your cartridges and put them back in.
Here are links, just in case:

If you haven't been printing for a week or so, you might need to do a "nozzle cleaning":

  1. Load letter, A4, or legal unused plain white paper into the input tray.
  2. Open HP Solution Center , select the Settings menu, then the Print Settings submenu, and finally the Printer Toolbox . The Printer Toolbox appears.
  3. Click the Device Services tab.
  4. Click Clean the Print Cartridges .
  5. Follow the prompts until you are satisfied with the quality of the output, and then click Done .
  6. Try the print job again.
Also, your printer will continue telling you that your cartridges are empty. That is normal, because the printer sees the cartridges by their serial number. So, just ignore the warnings.

Hope that helps!

Why can't I print black and white, without colored ink?

I have the same problem & have been searching for weeks for a replacement printer that will print B & W with one or more colors empty. I haven't had any luck yet - I did run across a post that said: For black and white images and photos, a blend of colors called "composite black" may be used to achieve significantly better image quality and smoother gray tones than can be accomplished with black inks alone. I'm still searching...

Hello'' can you tell me how to change the ink in the kodak printer?

  1. Open up the cartridge to reach the ink chamber within. For color and photo cartridges, just remove the lid with a sharp knife (insert it where the black and colored plastic meet) to find the three fill holes. On black cartridges, make a hole with a heated pin or drill on top of the cartridge where the letter "K" is.
  2. Step 2 Check the chambers in a color/photo cartridge to determine which color ink is in which chamber. Insert a different toothpick or pin into each chamber to draw out yellow, cyan or magenta ink.
  3. Step 3 Fill a plastic syringe bottle with enough ink in the color you are refilling. A black ink cartridge should need 10 to 15 milliliters. A color/photo cartridge takes 5 milliliters of each color.
  4. Step 4 Insert the syringe needle into the cartridge, sending the tip down to the bottom. The chamber contains a sponge, so you will need a small bit of force to push it in.
  5. Step 5 Inject the ink into the cartridge. Unlike other brands of cartridges, you want to saturate the sponge with ink in a Kodak cartridge. Depress the syringe plunger slowly until you can see the ink begin to surface on top of the sponge.
  6. Step 6 Wash all ink residue out of the syringe after you've refilled one shade of ink. If you intend to refill another color immediately, dry the syringe out first.
  7. Step 7 Replace the lid on a color/photo cartridge. Apply a strip of tape to the spot where you first removed the lid to secure it. You don't need to seal a hole you drilled in a black cartridge.
  8. Step 8 Leave the cartridge standing in a secure spot overnight. This helps the ink settle within the cartridge for even printing once the cartridge is back in the printer.

Is it possible to use non HP ink in ths printer? Tried using "remanufactured ink", and concluded that this printer may be programed to block the use of NON HP INK.

It is always recommended to use genuine HP cartridges.
As if we will use the non HP or refilled cartridges, it will reduce the life of the printer.
And we will get an error "cartridge problem".
Plaese use the below cartridges, which are compatible with this printer.
HP 02 Black 660 pages
HP 02 Black Twin Pack 1320 pages
HP 02 Color Combo See single 02 inks
HP 02 Cyan 400 pages
HP 02 Light Cyan 240 photos
HP 02 Light Magenta 240 photos
HP 02 Magenta 370 pages
HP 02 Photo Value Pack 150 photos
HP 02 Yellow 500 pages
HP 02XL Cyan 600 pages
HP 02XL Magenta 555 pages
HP 02XL Yellow 750 pages

Lexmark 2300 series

yes you can refill the cartridge.

Each kit includes 3 bottles of photo ink (1 bottle each of photo black-photo cyan-photo magenta) plus all refill-tools and instructions needed to successfully refill your Lexmark 18C0031 cartridge.
The trick to extending it's life is to know how to add Ink, and to only use Ink which matches the ink which originally came with your cartridge. Each cartridge is manufactured to work with a specific type of Ink, and will not work correctly with anything different.

Estimated ink levels are incorrect

The simple solution is to buy the HP cartridges. Often times,.. MOST times, aftermarket ink cartridges and refill kits are an inferior product. The difference is not always noticeable right away, but almost always rears it's head in the end. This is usually due to the ink being of a different viscosity than the original ink. Which leads to sloppy prints, sensor errors, leaky or dead jets.
Personally I recommend everyone buy Laser printers. With prices where they are these days, there is no reason for anyone to buy an inkjet printer. Lasers will cost more up front, but are much cheaper per page and generally longer lasting.

Canon i960 will not print in black ink

Yep same as above. Black prints very light gray after 5 years of good printing. Tried every test, replaced black cartridges with different brands. Just wondering if somehow you can clean the heads. I'm convinced the black head is almost totally clogged. Does anyone know how to remove the printer heas to do this?
