Are you trying to connect to the wireless network?
Or you are trying to open router setup page?
Please explain in details.

If you forgot the wireless password then it can be found on router setup page. You need to open the router setup page and find the wireless network password.

Check this link to find wireless network password

If you are not sure about router password then you need to reset the router and reconfigure it.

Thanks

WPS button

I have a WRT54G router and there is no WPS button.

This is a cut and paste from Cisco engineer:
Wi-Fi Protected Setup or WPS is a somewhat new feature on most routers. However, I believe that the WRT54g was release prior to this feature. The installation disc for your wireless adapter is trying to circumvent network discovery and the process of entering a wireless password by using the WPS feature. Without using the installation disc to setup the adapter should still be able to connect to your Wi-FI network. Only use the disc to install the drivers for your wireless card and the wireless access utility. After you have done this:
1.Open the wireless utility and you should see available networks
2.Select your Wi-Fi network
3.If the network is open (not password proctected) you should be connected immediately
4.If the network is secured (password protected) then you will prompted to enter your password or preshared key
5.After entering the key you should be granted access to the network

How to find a network key

normally the network key is located at the bottom of the router if it is newly installed, but if you forgot the network key you have setup then better open your router utility by knowing first what is your ip address.heres how 1. open Run command 2. type in cmd and hit ok 3. black screen will appear 4. type in ipconfig (no space) then enter 5. get the default gateway 6. open any browser you have, ie, firefox etc 7. on the address bar type in your default gateway then enter 8. you should see a page where it ask you to enter your username and password ( in order for you to know what is your username and password ., you have to visit you router manufacturer website to know what is your default usename and password, for some, they have "admin" for the username and "password" for password, some are using "admin" for both username and password, you can also try it) 9. lastly once you get into the router page, try navigating inside it, and locate the wireless settings security where the network key is located..
Hope this will help. God Bless (-_-)

I need to know the network key for my Linksys routerWRT54GL-EU in order to establish a wireless LAN to my PC (a Fujitsu moidel) Best regards, Preben Lund prebenlund@plt.dk

When you first installed your router, you used the "Wireless Networking Setup Wizard" to"
* set an SSID ("network-name") for your network.
* set an encryption-level. Hint: use 'WPA' or 'WPA2'.
* set a password or pass-phrase for your network.

Enter that password. Or, rerun that Wizard, to create new settings.

It requires username and password how can i change this to setup my router to secure

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. If you want to setup a password or security on your router you need to access the Wireless Settings Page. To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.1.1, the Default username is blank and the password is admin. Go to the Wireless Tab select Wireless Security on the Dropdown next to Security Mode select either WEP or WPA. Then Personalize your Network Key. The Network Key serves as a password on your network to make it secure. Then Save the settings

If this works dont forget to say thanks. Thanks for using Fixya.

I don't know how to find my network key (wep/wpa key)

When you installed the router, you should have followed the instructions on how to "login" to the router, and run the "Wireless Networking Setup Wizard", to set:
* an SSID ("network-name")
* an encryption-level (use: WPA)
* a network-password

It's those values that you need to use to connect to your wireless network.

I have achieved an unsecure w/less network and want to make secure my router is a d link dl 524 with belkin adaptor

HI! I bliv u are having some issue setting up ur router.. I will be more than glad to assist u. . here are the steps u need to do:
1. connect the ethernet cable to port1 of the router and the other end to the lan port of your computer..
2. pull up ur browser then type at the url:192.168.1.1.or 192.168.0.1 or u can check the routers default gateway by right clicking the network icon on the lower right of your task bar and click on status and it will show the ip address of the computer, subnetmask and default gateway, the default gateway is the routers ip address, once u type in to the url, it will ask u the username and password, by default the username is admin and the password is 1234 or just leave it blank
3. it will show the setup page of the router. u can set the router on the specific internet setup that u have.
u can setup the wireless settings, u need to create a ssid or wireless name and a security..on the setup page you will see there, wireless connection settings, you can set your wireless security by using the wep, wpa or wpa2 / tkip
8. once all is set. save the settings and to check if your laptop can access the wireless network that you did, turn on the wireless switch of your laptop, once its on, it will show the wireless network icon on the lower right of the taskbar, right click it and select on view available network, the network name that u did should list, just select it and connect and it will ask for the password, just type the password and connect, you should be connected to the wireless network and have internet access..
4. If you are going to hook up your desktop to the wireless connection, you need to install a wireless network adapter, install the driver and do the same thing as u did to the laptop, for the desktop no need of turning on the wireless switch, once you install the driver correctly, it will show a network icon..
if you have any query pls feel free to get in touch.. good luck

Limited connectivity from laptop

It seems like you are trying to access a network other than your own, and the fact that you do not know the codes tells me that it is NOT your network. Try changing the name (SSID) of your network to something unique that you can identify. Try going through all with a network you KNOW is yours.

Network key

Your network key set on the router setup page. To get this, just open your browser on the computer that is wired directly to the router. then type in the address bar http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 the address will depend on the version of your router, or just try both, it will ask you for a username and password, by default the username is admin and password is password. Once your on the setup page of your router click on the wireless settings on the left hand panel. Then look for the wirelses security settings - if the security is set to WEP - Key1 will be the network key or which ever has a tick. Or its the Security is set to WPA the passphrase is your network key.

Let me know what will happen.

Hope this one helps.
