What is your full model number,, disregard any numbers on the part itself as most are not part numbers, and official ge part number would start with a W an example would be wb26x10023... i just made that up ...
to get your part number get the full model number on sticker inside, then u could go to sears.com to thier parts and service section, lokk up model number and get part number for magnetron hope this helps

Microwave makes a loud roaring sound when start is pressed to cook something. The turntable turns and lights go on, but sound is horendous. We quickly stop it fearing it might be melting down.

Most likely it is the magnatron has gone bad, this or the fan for the magnatron. If your handy you can dissasemble the unit and look for a damaged fan, if none found then the magnatron is most likely bad.

JEM 31 is not heating

Sounds like you have a bad transformer. Magnatron should check less than 1 ohm (with wires unplugged). Diode should check resistance one way and open the other. Must have a proper diode checker for this. Check resistance on the capacitor (make sure it is discharged first). Resistance should come up then back to open, reverse and same thing if cap. is good. Check resistance on transformer windings.

Microwave light comes on and turntable revolves when food is put in, but it doesn't heat food up. Food remains cold, can you help? thanks Dee

9 times out of ten it is the magnatron that has gone bad, that is the device that creates the microwaves for heating the food. Check inside the cabinet for fuses and if none found or blown then it is the magnatron. These are available widespread but most cost about as much as a new oven, so do a google search on your make and model of microwave and search for a magnatron for that unit. This will bring up parts suppliers and their prices and you can decide if it is worth fixing or replacing

LG microwave oven rotating but not heating

I have found that the common cause for this problem is either the 'High Voltage Fuse (HV fuse)' or the 'Magnatron Assembly'. In some instances it can easily be both.
My advice is to read throughly how to discharge a 'High Voltage Capacitor (HV capacitor)' to avoid any injury or worse yet, death.
After doing so you can find the HV fuse runing from the HV capacitor, it will be inside a small plastic casing, you will be able to see with the naked eye if it has blown. If so, replace it.
As for the magnatron Assembly, it looks like a large silver cube with a series of magnets inside it, they are not as easy to test to see if they are faulty or not so if the fuse doesnt repair the issue, replace the magnatron assembly as well. I hope this offers some help. Good luck.

First of all, my do it yourself expertise is very high. I have power to the microwave (panel, interior light, etc). When I try to operate the microwave - the electronic panel intications are normal, but...

BECAREFUL high voltage transformer inside of unit. Check for blown fuses on the control panel. Check the door interlock sitches. there are usually 2-3. A bad interlock will keep power from the magnatron. Check the thermal fuse, small dime sized disc with 2 wires. look for the schematic it will give the location usually near the magnatron. Checking the magnatron is a little more difficult.

No power replace fuse

there are thermal fuses as well as the ceramic power fuse. one is located on the heating element(magnatron) and one on the cabinet. if the one on the magnatron is blown you more than likely have a bad mag as well. if it is the one on the cabinet it just got too hot while cooking

Part number question on (XX)

As long as the mounting position is the same, they are the same magnetron.
Be very careful as there are lethal voltages feeding the magnetron that can be stored in the capacitor for a very long time. It is not practical to try and test a magnetron with a multimeter as all you can read is the heater continuity.
A thermostat likewise is difficult to test but a faulty thermostat won't stop the magnetron from working.
No idea where you are so I cannot comment on a supplier.
