This may be a stupid answer...but try switching the front panel selector switch for Input to DV.

Also make sure the record inhibitor isn't active.

Check your tape to make sure your SAVE tab isn't switched as well.

Clean the heads; often, heads that will play back a pre-recorded tape may not record because of dirt.

Panasonic Ag-DV1000 mini DV deck shuts down after inserting tape

When there's a problem with the drive mechanism of a VCR it will shut down to prevent damage. All operations of a VCR are controlled by a computer chip. This is told what mode the mechanism is in by a Mode Switch. If this is faulty it can cause the machine to play up. Sometimes a spray of Video 40 on the mode switch can restore operation. However it will not correct the problem if the mechanism has any damage on it.

Can I get a driver to connect the AG-DV1000P to my MAC 0S X 10.4.11

does the AG-DV100P have a firewire output connection?

If it does your mac should be able to 'when connected' have the driver of this machine built into the OS.

Unfortunately, all I know about Muncie is that I have relatives there. I'd go to the Panasonic website and use your zip code to locate a local authorized service center. Follow the link below and click on the "find a servicer" button in the upper right corner.

AG-DV1000 Mini DV... ERROR F09

I believe that this error message indicates that the heads are not spinning. The tape should be ejected. This unit requires a servicer. There are a number of reasons for the heads not spinning. Finding out the cause in your specific unit will require testing and measurements with test gear. There are no user serviceable parts inside these units. Please see an authorized Panasonic service center.

This unit just needs the standard belt job. The rubber parts probably got old sitting around in the back romm of the university.

Could do it yourself if you are the like to take things apart type. Otherwise, a repair shop can do it very affordably.
