restart your PC and insert your printer into another USB port, distinct from the first port you inserted it.
Also make sure your printer is powered on before you insert it to your PC.
As for the driver, uninstall it and reinstall again. While installing, remove the printer printer from your PC before you start install the driver. It will get to a point where the installation will ask you to insert your printer and it will detect it by itself automatically. Before you insert the printer, make sure it is powered on.
Just follow the installation instruction and it will be installed.
