1st check that all the washers are still in place.
2nd when you screw the motherboard back to the chassis, tighten all the screws up then release them all by one full turn, if it still goes to overheat, loosen the screws by another turn, this problem usually arises when the motherboard is not screwed in exactly level, sometimes the screws that you use to do the xclamp mod with are slightly too thick which causes the board to bow in the middle, loosening the chassis screws off usually helps.
The red light on your power brick means its overheating, clean away any dust and give it more ventilation.
Remember thumbs up if this helps.

I figure that because you have re -posted that you still have the same problem, if that solution has not worked it must be a problem with the tollerances on the cpu (the large heatsink) what I would suggest is that you put the xclamp back on to this one but leave the mod on the gpu(small heatsink) this needs to be done with a bit of gentle persuation but will go on with a bit of pushing, on the xclamp itself there is a cut out about 2-3 mm long, that needs to be pointing to the right.

Let me know if this works or not.

Car wont start but when you touch the battery it starts

You have to take the battery clamps off once or twice a year and clean where they contact with a battery post cleaner brush or reamer. Purchase a di-electric paste or light bulb contact paste and put between the clean battery post and clamp. Tighten. Sometimes you have to replace the clamps with new ones.

X box game wont come on. red light flashing

if all four lights are red your av cable or hdmi is loose. if its 3 red lights this is the red ring of death (RROD) and it needs repair. microsoft has a 3year warrenty for this problem. what happens is the console gets hot and the "x" clamps holding the heat syncs to the chips bends the motherboard and causes the CPU or GPU to come loose enough to where they aren't making proper contact with the board. I've fixed several of these including 2 of my own. what you do is take it apart, remove the clamps and the heat syncs. clean the chips. apply new thernal paste and replace the problem causing clamps with screws and washers. plug in the xbox with out the fan hooked up for about 3-5 minutes until you see 2 red lights flashing which indicated the console is ovrheating, let it overheat for 2 minutes unplug it and tighten the screws. the overheating of the console softens the solder on the chips and allows you to tighten the back into place.

How can I fix my Xbox 360 if I have one red light on. It was running fine all day and then it just kind of froze so I turned it off and then when I tryed to turn it back on it said E74 error.

this is the beginning of rrod and can be fixed for $40 parts and tools get tutorials from llamas.com remove thermal paste from gpu and cpu and from cooling units using hand sanitizer and cutips making sure they are mirror clean get 1/2 long 10-32 screws (8 of them and 7/16x.200x1/16 nylon washers 16 of these to replace the x-clamps . then put back together except for pluging in fans turn on and you will see 3 red lights leave on for 2 minutes or untill only 2 red lights continue leaving it on for another two minutes then turn off and go back in to xbox after 20-30 minutes and tighten the 8 screws that should have only been hand tight the first time this will fix your console permantly if it dont go right the first time try it again or as many times as it takes as long as it starts to get hot this will fix it i work on xboxes and ps3s all day long

Xbox 360 - red lights (2)

This can be caused by the unit overheating. Once this happens it shorts out the unit causing solder on the board to melt and bridge(connect). Once this happens it shorts out the board causing the error you have now. Contact Microsoft and see if the unit is still under warranty.

My system turns on but no video only audio whats going on i even bought new av cables still same

Hi its about to go into RROD quick fix to tell if it is sometimes this works

Turn it around see the fan holes, with it turned off stick two small screwdrivers thru the holes to stop them spinning, turn it on watch the lights on the front, soon it will blink 2 red lights let it go for about 10 minutes then turn it off at the wall, take out screwdrivers, wait for about an hour to cool by itself, dont help it Turn it on at the wall and 90% of the time it will come alive again if not do it a second time If this helps give us a tick so to help others This is temporary untill you get it fixed by a professional to fix them properly and if its under warrantee MS is the best way to go otherwise you have to heat it with infared heat or a rework station clamping is basterdation in my opinion I use the rework station and about 95% are still going Good Luck

Two Red Lights On A Cool Xbox 360

i have the same problem. the problem is the x-clamps. the x-clamp are these stupid x shaped clamps that keep the heatsink touching the CPU and GPU, over time they weaken and the heatsinks lose there connection.
you need to look up the x-clamp repair kit. all it does is replace the x-clamps with screws and washers (no need for drilling the holes are already there) anyway it a simple process and anybody can do it and it'll save you money, it's only about £3.
in most kits you also get thermal paste, all you do is scrap the old thermal paste off the CPU/GPU with a cotton bud or q-tip and put a little bit of the new stuff on. the kit has about a 90% success rate and fixes your problem and the red ring of death problem some people get.
look it up on you tube theres loads of instruction videos on it
also make sure you get a kit that does NOT have nylon washers because these just get squashed or melt.
just type "x-clamp repair" into e-bay to find a kit
you can also find the screws and washers in hardware shops, but your better off getting the kit to make sure they are the right size plus you get  a sachet of thermal paste with it, othwise your would have to pay about £10 to get can of the stuff.
i'm getting my kit in a few days
DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU STILL HAVE YOUR WARRENTY
if you still have your warrenty call microsoft (number is in the instruction book) lie and tell them you got 3 red lights and they'll repair it for free, if you tell the truth they'll make you pay so it's your choice. they never check it anyway. they just replace the parts and send it back to you.
hope this helped
