Hi,

Kindly do the following steps to resolve the issue:

A. Press and hold the "*" key.

B. Press the "#" key and release both keys.Display should say "Enter Special Key Combo"

C. Press and release in sequence the "1", "2" and "3" buttons.

D. Press and release the right arrow button until the display says "System Configuration Menu".

E. Press and release the "OK" button.

F. Display should say "Hardware failure status". If not there already, Arrow Key over to "Hardware failure status".

G. Press and release the "OK" button.

H. Display should say "Hardware failure status: Clear. Press OK to clear".

I. Press and release the "OK" Button. Message changes to "Hardware failure status Cleared. Press Cancel to continue".

J. Press and release the "CANCEL" button as many times as necessary, so that, either the "Welcome to Photosmart Express" screen appears, or, the "Ink System Failure" screen appears. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO PRINT AT THIS STAGE.

K. Using the Power Button, turn the unit OFF and unplug the power cable from back of the printer and wall outlet.

L. Wait 30 seconds for the power to get discharged and then plug the power cable into the wall outlet first and then into the back of the printer.

M. urn the unit on. The printer may display message "USE POWER BUTTON TO SHUTDOWN THE PRINTER" followed by "PRESS OK TO CONTINUE". Press OK. The Printer will start the "ONE TIME INK INITIALIZATION PROCESS". Allow this process to complete and do not interrupt. Once the initialization process is complete, the printer will print out a Diagnostic Page. If it didn't it's ok.

N. Press Setup menu on the All-in-One then scroll using the arrow key and select Print Report then select Self Test Report.

How do I resolve the error message "Printer error" (error code 6202)?
To resolve this error:

  1. Disconnect the power adapter from the printer.
  2. Wait 30 seconds to allow the printer to reset.
  3. Connect the power adapter to the printer. Turn the printer on if necessary.

When the printer is ready (no error message), upgrade the firmware for your printer:

  1. Locate and select the firmware for your printer.
  2. Follow the instructions to install the firmware.

If the error continues and you cannot upgrade the firmware, contact Kodak Technical Support.

Error code Oxc18a0406 Ink System ailure


There are a few things you can try. First do a reset of the printer. Turn on the unit and then disconnect the power cord (yes with it on) from the rear of the printer. Then unplug the power cord from the outlet. Wait at least 15 seconds and then plug the cord back into the outlet. Then plug the cord into the printer. If needed, turn on the unit.

If the error persists, try cleaning the print head. You will need distilled or bottled water and lint free cloths (coffee filters will work). Take out the ink cartridges and set them aside. Work quickly but carefully; you need to reinsert them in 30 minutes to avoid damage. Next lift the lever on the right of the cartridge carrier all the way up and lift out the printhead. Dampen a cloth (squeeze out the excess water). Wipe the electrical contacts from bottom to top; do not go past the edge to the nozzles. Continue until you have no ink remaining. Next wipe the edge between the electrical contacts and the nozzles (use a right to left motion). Finally, wipe the ramps to the sides of the nozzles away from the nozzles. Dry all of these surfaces.

With a fresh, dampened cloth wipe the electrical contacts inside the printer. Then dry the area.

Reinsert the printhead and latch the lever. Reinsert the cartridges. Close the access door.

Then check if the error persists. Try another power reset as above.

If that doesn't help, you may need a new printhead or the entire unit needs service. Unfortunately, if you install a new printhead and it doesn't solve the problem, you can not return the printhead.

My hp c7250 gives me an ink system failure Oxc18a0406 message. is there any way that I can service it myself?


  1. Without turning off the product, disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the product.
    NOTE: The USB cable connects to the port on the back of the product. The port is labeled with the USB icon (c01424575.gif ). Figure 2: Example USB connection (your product might not look exactly the same as this example)c01651067.gif
  2. Remove the cartridges from the product.
  3. Wait for the 'Insert Cartridges ' message to display on the control panel.
  4. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.
  5. Wait 60 seconds.
  6. Reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button (c01602202.gif ).
  7. Reinsert the cartridges, and then close any open doors on the product.
  8. If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.
  9. Reconnect the USB cable to the rear of the product, and then try printing again.
Solution two: Service the product If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.

7. Install the ink cartridges when prompted.
