I have same issue, wondering if it's overheating as I haven't noticed the fan starting at all. I get no errors as I'm just line inputting but after a few minutes the sound just cuts out into a horrible interference type noise. The dvd/vhs part stopped working years ago, then I upgraded to the JVC dr-m150b recorder... wrong choice apparently! That one crapped out 3 months past the warranty. You used to be able trust these companies.

Re: The power shuts off after a few minutes
There could be several factors. Are there any indication or failure lights/codes prior to the unit shutting down? You didn't mention where the unit is located. Does it initially start to read the disc then shut down or is there no activity at all? Please respond with some additional info & we'll go from there.

Hello, Protection mode on a Samsung player most likely means that the unit is overheating due to a non or low functioning fan. Before taking it somewhere to be serviced turn the unit on and see if the fan in the back is functioning (it should be on whenever the unit is on). If it is not you can try gently blowing it out with a can of compressed air. I am sure that you can have it serviced but it might be cheaper to purchase a new player. Good luck and take Care, -WN
My 1st suggestion is to pull the AC power plug from the wall, wait 5 minutes (have a smoke or a coffee) and plug it back in. Then retry the functions that are giving you grief. Report back with the results and we'll go from there.

If both decks have a disc or tape in it , the unit shut down because of a power supply glitch or a mechanical trouble shut down the system control system. One way to possibly get them out is unplug unit for a few hours or overnight even better. Before you plug back in press the eject button and hold it in while you plug it in. Dont let go untill the tape comes out. Now if it comes out then unplug the unit anf replug back in and wait a few secs. to let it reset and do its thing. then see if it will turn on and try to eject the disc. if this dosent work then its a power supply problem and its going to need serviceing unless you know your way aroundservo controls and power supplys . Remeber always unplug these units as they do have voltages on the primary side of the transformer that can bite ya. Good Luck
