The manual to the Kenmore 19606 computerized sewing machine claims it has tow sizes. How do you change the size? I e-mailed Sears and they said to call Janome, which in turn said they do not provide customer service for the Kenmore line of machines.

I have had that problem with monograms. I tried everything in the book. Now, I am trying to do some machine embroidery and it is tiny and there is no way to enlarge. I tried using the elongate button, and it cannot be used with the stitch. I tried using the wideth and length buttons with no results. I tried using memory and then edit to enlarge and that didn't work either. I am so frustrated with this.

The machine you have does not offer the ability to do monograms larger than 7mm (a little bigger than 1/4 inch). You could use a free motion or darning foot and with practice do your own free hand.

How do i enlarge the font size for embroidery

If this is the built in font on the sewing machine, they are pretty standard size. To make large fonts usually takes an embroidery machine and pre-digitized fonts or software with fonts or the ability to create fonts in the sizes you are looking for.
You can with practice learn to create your own lettering using a satin or very small zig zag stitch which is the original way monograms were created.

What does the 10 light mean

Manual for this machine is here: http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/bbd749beb7151a637824d777a05c51b4fb50b0a4.pdf
10 means the hoop size is too small to let the hoop move to the proper position, install a bigger hoop, according to the error codes on the next to last page.

How can I get the monogram to work properly?

On my sewing machine that would be an indicator of misadjusted thread tension. Changing thread type or diameter generally requires tension adjustment. In this particular case, I\'d increase the bobbin tension a bit (if I understand your description correctly, the bobbin thread forms loose hoops), and back off on the upper (spool) tension (pulls too hard on the thread). On one or two of my bobbin cases, I had problems with the tensioner screw working loose during use. I put a dab of nail polish on the screw head to stick it to the bobbin case. Problem solved.

I\'m not familiar with your particular machine, but I don\'t see why you can\'t make the character any size above the minimum (which would be the smallest readable character that can be made with the stitch length and type used).

How do I increase the size of applique letters on the Horizon 7700

Applique and Letters (MONOGRAMMING) are two different things

Check pages 67 & 80 of your manual

Letter size is fixed, not variable

How to install a Kenmore monogramer to a Kenmore zig zag machine

You are replacing the presser foot with the monogramer and you will need the very specialized instructions for it's proper use.

I would like to find a machine that monograms and does not cost over $500. All I want to be able to do is the traditional 3 letter monogram (larger letter in center) or a child's name, such as Charlotte...

My advice is to try going to a shop that sells machines and gives lessons for free. I bought from JoAnn's and they gave me lessons on it. I bought a Brother for $549 and I am not sorry because I actually know how to use it thanks to the girls at JoAnn's. I would not be using all of the features if I didn't have the hands on instruction. The manual is great for a refresher but nothing beats doing it and someone answering your questions. Think about it before you buy online, you may save a few bucks but in the long run you will be happy to have a relationship with people who care if you have a problem and can help you.

Hi there!

Bit of a con eh?

Is it the Innov-is 700E ? as featured here?
http://www.brothersew.co.uk/brother-innov-is-700e-embroidery-machine-193.html

Most machines can embroider.
The foot advance claw need to be disengaged, then a frame is needed to hold the material flat.
Select a zig-zag stitch, mark out your pattern and away you go!

Basically filling in your marked design with zig-zag stitch.

If it is the computerised version - ask the store for a demonstration.

Hope this helps, If so , rate as fixya!
if not - ask and I'll do the best I can.

Thanks for using Fixya! (I don't get paid for this you know. I just like helping folk)

Sorry to inform you but your machine only sews 4" x 4" . The arm on the machine can only move 4 inches up and down and 4 inches left and right.
The size of the hoop does not affect this. If you have a multi position hoop you can sew multi 4 x 4 areas without re hooping.
