Dark Blotch on rear projection TV screen

I have a dark blotch on the screen of my JVC HD-ILA Micr/dsply screen. I tried blowing the bulb off to no avail.
This is a rear projection LCOS... any suggestions?

This blotch has been there for sometime... did you mean to leave it assembled and let it dry...in which case it's not working. I am kinda leery about removing the screen. There are screws that appear to be holding the screen in place. Does these screws just remove the outside screen. would I wipe down the inside of the cover screen. Are these bulbs that you talk about mounted on the inside screen... do I try to wipe these off?

    Thanx so much

I found the culprit. It was a small piece of debris on the lamp. I used a pice of an old tshirt and wiped it off and the blotch was gone.

Usually these are caused by cleaning the screen with a damp cloth or fkuid rear projection tv's usually have two plastic screens separated by about quarter inch with bulbs between, one being a magnified screen.problem is,condensation can occur causing various blotches, letting the screens naturly dry out usually solves this but failing this you have to strip down and wipe them with clean dry cloth.be careful though the inside screen is very delicate.

glad to to hear youv'e solved it .to take the screen off there ARE screws all the way around but you unscrew the bottom section of the unit first because more screws for the screen are hidden there just so as you know for the future

Have a dark blotch on bottom right of screen. What is this? Transported in the rain and fear water got through carefully wrapped plastic. Help

It's possible the mirror has dome dust on it from jostling during the move. W dried water spot will do it too. The front screen will come off by removing the screws on the bezel. Be extremely careful cleaning the mirror.Any scratch by a cleaning cloth (never use paper) will permanently ruin it.

Either dust/dirt inside (unlikely but possible) or a damaged optical light engine--Google the model number with "problems" etc.

Sorry this problems can't repair, the tv screen panel itself the black film high gloss plastice coating has been bleach out,now u just have to live with it or have to buy another new tv.Try buy another exact tv from JVC corporation directly, should have some percentages discount for returning the damage tv to them.

Round black spot in middle of the picture/screen

Hi :-)

The round blotch your seeing on the screen is the melting of an acrylic lens inside the light engine. Its a design flaw which unfortunately Infocus will not stand behind. To fix this problem requires opening the light engine and putting an equivalent lens in place. This task is very involved, but this problem is repairable and you need a glass smith to cut the right size lens from the original.

I have a 56" JVC rear projections HD ILA tv.

Turn tv off and unplug it. Take the access door off either side of the tv. Use a dust cleaning tool like a swiffer with an extension (or make one). Clean off lens (most likely the problem). I have the same thing that happens to my JVC 61". You can use a vacuum with extension if your VERY careful.

Dark Blotches

This is probably caused by dust, either on the mirror, lens, or possibly inside the light engine. There is a 5" dia hole on the side of the back of the tv where you can take out one screw and take the door off. this is just big enough for you to put your hand through to clean the mirror and lens. Hope this helps.

Blotches on screen.

suspect the optical engine. are they present after initial turn off before the blinking light comes on and the cooling process starts? if so then it will be optical engine issue. can be very pricey by the way
