Admiral model lnc6762b71 tub dosen't center itself

Check balance springs at the bottom of the tub/drum. To gain access and remove front panel insert a knife or thin blade approx. 4" in the from each side in between the front seam on the front panel, this will release the lid clips, lift and hinge back the lid panel, remove the two screws securing the front panel and remove, there are 6-8 springs at the bottom, check all are intact.
Also check drum is rotating at full speed, if not check and replace drive belt below the machine, tilt machine back to gain access, flip belt off the pulleys and replace same way.

Makes banging sound during agatation cycle, tub and agator both rotate back and forth.

Lift the top cover of the unit from the front of the unit once it is free from the front locking clips, which hold the cover in place. Two things you need to inspect for damage. 1) You should see four rubber straps, which should restrict the movement during the wash and spin cycle (cost is around $4.00 each). 2) Check the shocks on the tub support rods and plastic hardware for damage.

My washing machine tub is off kilter, the water runs in, that's all. It worked fine, washed, rinsed & spun last load, & now won't rotate or move, please tell me what to do?

There are 4 support arms on this unit and the tub has popped off. Using a flat blade you will need to locate and push in the locking tabs for the front panel. 1 on each side and when you locate push in while pulling the front panel toward you on that corner. You will then be able to see the support and with help from someone. 1 of you lift the tub up and the other will slip the rod back into position. You can look at any of the others to see how it hangs. Hope this helps and good luck.

How do we remove the tub seal assembly on a mat12cs commercial Maytag?

This is a not a job for the back yard mechanic. There are many things that need to be done carefully. There are 3 letters missing from your model number also... However the procedure is pretty much the same for all models.

NOTE you will need a special tool to remove the stem seal. Unless you have the special tool in hand don't even bother starting the job. Tell any appliance part center you need the tool for removing an Old style Maytag tub nut and stem seal.

1. Remove the front panel
2. Remove the cabinet top / lid by removing the 2 screws in the top front corner of the cabinet. and rotate the top up 90 deg. Be careful of the lid that will swing freely.
3. Disconnect the pump inlet hose from the bottom of the tub.
4. Disconnect the water injector hose from the tub cover.
5. Remove the tub cover
6. Locate the only hex head screw in the side of the agitator and remove it.
7. Lift out the agitator
8. Using the special tool you should have in hand by now.... Remove the wash tub nut and stainless steel washer under the tub nut.
9. NOTE the distance of the inner tub from the outer tub and then lift out the wash tub
10. Next is the stem seal. You first have to remove the allen head lock screw in one of the 4 faces of the tub nut. Then again using that same special tool remove the upper part of stem seal. Be careful when lifting it as you can actually damage the grease seal in the very top of the tub seal upper portion. Once the metal upper part of the tub stem seal assy is removed... there another NOTE of caution...
11. The actual tub seal has a carbon face on the top of it and if you crack the carbon seal it your machine will leak all of the time there is water in the unit.
grab the tub seal as the very base of the seal and gently rotate and lift it off the inner tub sealing surface.
12. Install the new stem seal.... by again gripping it on the bottom only and gently rotate and push it down into place until it seats level.

Reassemble in reverse order of disassembly but make sure you INSTALL the allen lock screw into the stem seal nut face. If you don't the stem seal will come loose and your unit will leak again. Final note is during re-assembly make sure the wash tub is centered.... rotate the tub once you tighten the tub nut and make sure it is not to elliptical if you don't get it right... the machine will gyrate with use in the spin cycle.

Squeeking and banging and LL display code

Run the machine through the cycles without anything in it. If it still does it, lift the top and look down between the basket and the tub for any objects that might have jumped out of the basket and into the space. Fish out anything that's in there. If there is nothing in that space, you need to either tighten or replace the snubber. It's a piece of rubber, held against the tub by a piece of metal. It keeps the tub from bouncing around.

How do I remove gravel underneath washer tub?

To access the washer:
  1. Use a putty knife about an inch wide.
  2. Push the putty knife on the sides to release the top panel and lid clips.
  3. Lift the top panel back towards the wall.
  4. Tape the lid so it does not fall back and chip.
  5. Remove the two 5/16 inch screws on the inside of the front panel. The top of the front panel will come towards you.
  6. Lift the front panel off the clips on the bottom and set aside.
  7. Pull the washer out from the wall and lift up the front to access the belt. Support it with a block of wood.

Tub rotates CW during agitation, out of balance, hits side of metal cabinet, but no error code

Hello srcoray,

Did you replace the clutch, just trying to get a feel for your hands on experience with the machine? If you did the work did your machine use the upper roller clutch bearing along with the clutch pulley mounted roller clutch bearing?

The FAV6800AW uses a reversing motor and motor controller that powers the motor and clutch pulley to rotate CW in Wash/Agitate cycle and CCW in Spin Cycle.

In Wash/Agitate cycle the roller clutch bearing should rotate freely CW allowing the agitator shaft to drive the transmission in wash cycle driving the tumblers to rotate only not the wash basket. In spin cycle the roller clutch bearing will lock up (one-way roller clutch bearing) driving the spinner shaft to rotate the wash basket and transmission CCW. Unless my thinking is wrong it sounds like the one way roller clutch bearing is frozen or dragging and not rotating freely in wash cycle rotating the wash basket CW. I’m an owner like you and will try to help.

Just a few other questions;

If you have a load of wet clothes in the wash basket and you select Spin Only cycle will the spin cycle complete with out dc/UC errors?

With the lid raised can you rotate the wash basket CW? It should not; it should only rotate CCW and do that with very little resistance.

Replacing a belt on a frigidaire glft1670a

First remove the top of the unit by taking out the 4 screws at the back of the machine. After the screws are removed, push the top foreward and lift it off. Next, remove all of the screws on the back of the machine and remove the rear cover. The belt should be infront of you now. If your belt is broken or worn, go buy a new one. Put the belt in the grooves of the motor pulley first. Hold the belt onto the pulley while you use the other hand to start the belt onto the wash tub pulley. Slowly rotate the large tub pully and feed the belt on fron the motor pulley. There will be a fair amount of pressure and this is normal. Keep turning the large pulley until the belt slips on fully. Spin the large pulley a few rotations to make sure the belt is centred and is in the proper grooves of the motor pulley. Now replace the back cover and top in the reverse order.

Hotpoint BWM - very noisy but not walking accross the floor!

Remove the back of the machine to expose the inner drum pulley. Need to know if this pulley is rotating and if there is any side to side play.

The noise you are discribing does sound like a rear bearing that is mounted in the external tub housing. Depending on the age of the machine, this bearing is NOT replacable. The outer tub must be replaced because the bearing is molded into the drum.

Grinding noise when drum rotates

may be a foreign object trapped in between the inner and outer tub. Major Disassembly required to split the outer tub. May also be the rear bearing in which case back half will have to be replaced.
