SOURCE: Removal of GE Spacemaker Microwave oven

1. Unplug the microwave. The plug is probably in a receptacle that is in the cabinet above the microwave, or in the wall above the shelf that is above the microwave.

2. Remove the two (or three) screws that go straight down through the bottom of the cabinet, or the shelf, into the top of the microwave. Have help in holding the microwave when you do this, as the front of the microwave will be able to fall down when the screws are removed.

3. Allow the front of the microwave to rotate down a little, then lift the back of the unit up about 1/2" to 1". At this point, the microwave will be disconnected from the mounting plate on the wall, so you can move it forward and carry it away.

SOURCE: ge spacemaker microwave jvm/1650

Mmmm it's so easy,
First disconect the power, take the cover off, moslitly there would be 5 screws and two tab's on the top.
inside on the right hand side the magnetron it's a sylver box measuring about 4 in x 4 in x 5 in. It will have a plasic cover moslitly that would have to be remove first then on the magnetron there is 4 crews and one connector.
It should fall downard after.
If you have a power supply after the secondary , that may also be your problem.

Regards

Bob

SOURCE: microwave stopped nothing works fan lights buttons over counter ge spacemaker model jvm1630

A microwave can be dead for many reasons.

If the fuse is good, it may be an open thermostat or thermal cutout (TCO) / thermal fuse on or near the magnetron or on top of the cavity / body of the oven.

If it goes dead for a while during or after cooking then comes back on, the magnetron is probably overheating and causing the magnetron thermostat to open.

Then when it cools, it closes the circuit and allows power through again.

When checking thermostats, if it has a hood fan thermostat, that should read open, as opposed to the others, which should read closed.

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead a few seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

If it goes dead or blows the breaker when you plug it in or open or close the door, then there's a problem with a door switch or door switch mount.

If it's intermittent or random, it may be a bad connection, usually on the control board or a loose fuse holder, or even an intermittent fuse.

You should do a continuity test on the fuse while it's in the holder (with the microwave unplugged, of course) then turn the fuse by hand or take it out and

put it back in, then test it again.

If you remove the fuse, then press the meter leads against the ends, it can allow internal contact to be made and make a bad fuse appear to be good.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

The interior bulb of my ge spacemaker oven jvm1490sh01 has blown out. How do I go about replacing it? Thanks

HI,
I looked up your model and found that if you remove the grill above the door, you can ***** the bulb area. With the grill removed, in the middle left side, you will see either a black or metal looking cover, if I remember correctly you slide the cover back toward the wall and lift up. There is where your bulb should be.
If you would like unplug the micro way before you enter this area for safety only. I normally don't but I know what I am looking for.
Good luck, be safe

Cannot remove the front grill of GE Micro to replace filter

I have a new ge 1540 and needed to remove the grill to install the charcoal filter.

After removing the two screws on top, you need to slide the grill about 1/2" to the left. Then the grill will wiggle loose and can be removed.
