Hi,

When I have to replace a tube into studiomics, I'm always using Groove Tubes.
In your case you need a 12AY7 or 6072.

Gerard

Getting alot of static through my mic

I own two MXL 990's and have had no issues with extra noise of any kind. I would suggest checking or replacing the mic cables with new or known good ones. Also I don't know what you are connecting it to but a weak or noisy Phantom Supply could also cause extra noise.

When I start the van, sometimes I get a cranking sound. People tell me its the lifters where the oil passes through. I put in some oil detergent for noisy engines and it works, but then it comes back...

First thing to do is remove the oil pressure sending unit replace it with an oil pressure gauge. If the oil pressure is okay 30 to 40 lbs. idling and 40 to 60 at medium rpm, then you may need to adjust the lifters if that's what you're hearing. Lifters make a clicking sound at half the engine speed, and they do not make any heavy metal noise like a rod or main bearing will. Usually, by the time the lifters are badly worn the engine is due for an overhaul or replacement. Also, it's futile to just replace the lifters because if they're worn out I guarantee that the camshaft is too.

Get some dielectric grease and put it on the latch located on the bottom of the hatch. You will need to put quite a bit of grease in there and make sure you get it right inside the latch. Use the dielectric grease that comes in the squeeze tube not the spray can.

I have a 1950s Montgomery Ward tube amp -- same model as Silvertone 1432. This 10-watt amp suddenly doesn't have any sound out of the mic input jack. Sounds fine in all other input jacks. Could it be a...

There is a or should be a 12AX7 preamp tube driving the microphone side of the amp. That tube could be bad, they are only about 15 to 20 dollars for a new one, don't worry about NOS stuff, waste of money if you ask me. Tung Sol makes good 12AX7s. Also check the volume control. Spray it out with some contact cleaner and rotate the control about 10 times, this will get rid of any dust or oxidation that has occured over time.

Since you don't get any sound it should be just a tube replacement.

Want to replace PX100 wires

Just be careful, maybe try to find a guide to dissasembling the PX-100's - I had a pair go bad that I tried to open up and I mangled them somewhat - of course I wasn't being super careful, nor were they in great condition at that point. There's a lot of you tube vides about replacing the ear buds with other ear buds - it should be straight forward, minus the extra care for taking the PX-100's apart. Any concerns about impedance matching for the wires? Could this represent a degradation of the PX-100's sound if the wires are diff. impedance?

Toshiba CF36G50 Noisy when you turn it on

that sound is comming from the tube anode it is leaking you have to discharge the high voltage from the anode cap, then take off the cap clean the area with alcohol and put some red or clear silicone on the cap and anode connection replace back the cap on the tube leave to dry for about half hour, this will remedy your problem,no more static.good luck.
