Usually you have to launch the epson software to do this (I have a cx4800).

Read the manual or go to www.epson.com

720 printer didn't print well; installed new dell cartridge; won't print at all; goes through all motions; command voice instructions normal. Nothing, not a mark on a page. What do do?

This may be a printer that may have the same issue as all the other Epson models

The issue is that this printer may have caked and stopped up ink in something called an ink tube runner. This plastic tube runs the excess ink off the cartriges and funnels them to some ink pads below the printer assembly. You would need to get a matanace manual to see what new pads to buy as well as going to fixyourownprinter.com to get the cleaning liquid to unclogg the tube from all the stopped up ink trapped in it

Waste ink absorber is almost full. How do you empty or replace the waste ink absorber? The printer will no longer print.

if this happens, just turn off the printer plug, then hold the reset\stop button, after that you turn on the plug while pressing the stop reset button, then follow these steps

To reset waste ink counter:
Press Menu-Scan-Copy-Scan to enter service menu.
Use arrow keys to scroll to “Service menu counter access”.
Press OK.
Use arrow keys to scroll to “ABS-M DOT COUNT”
Press Copy.
Use arrow keys to reset count to zero.
Press OK.
Press Stop/Reset.

(optional)

To clean physical pads:
Open cover (as if replacing ink cartridge).
Locate waste ink pads, they are far right under cartridge slider.
Pry up waste ink pads (inky, might want to wear gloves).
Rinse pads in sink or with alcohol, dry.
Replace pads. Make sure pads are fully seated.

ERROR 5B00

Solution #1 worked with my MP170 but it could be described more clearly, as follows:-

1. If the power is on, turn it off (press the on/off button).

2. Hold down the stop/reset button (red triangle in red circle).

3. Whilst still holding down the stop/reset button, hold down the on/off button.

4. Whilst still holding down the on/off button, release the stop/reset button.

5. Now press the stop/reset button twice, quickly.

6. Next release the on/off button.

7. Wait untill the LCD display shows “Canon idle” (this may take a few minutes).

8. Now push the stop/reset button 4 times in succession, quickly.

9. Press the on/off button twice, quickly.

10. Now press the on/off button to switch the power off.

11. Finally, press the on/off button to switch the power back on.

This sets the ink pad counter to zero, even though the pad still contains ink.

Remove ink from the pad, as follows:-

Open the lid of the printer to reveal the cartridge track and ink pad.

Winkle out the ink pad, using a pin or a small screwdriver or tweezers.

Wash the ink pad in clean water, squashing the pad to remove the ink.

Dry the clean pad by squashing it between sheets of kitchen paper.

Replace the pad, taking care to fit it between the alignment notches.

Amen!
