the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I have a Dell Latitude D630. When the laptop is switched on it emits a high pitched scream and will not boot. I disabled microphone in BIOS and machine boots fine. Re-enabled microphone and same probl

It sounds like a driver problem, normally the microphone is off on-boot-up. It should only be opened by a program wanting to use it.

Have you tried turning it off in the operating system, rather than the BIOS?

Download the correct drive here.

How do i get missing ntldr back

you are missing a key boot file for windows that is special to XP.

Load your installation disk.
.
restart your computer and when the F2 setup appears in right bottom corner (right after starting) press the F8 key (couple of times) and choose CDrom drive. (if you miss, try CTRL ALT DELETE--to reboot and try again.

(if that does not work, you will have to go into F2 setup and tell the computer to boot from the CDROM--you will find it by looking on each tab for a list of CDROM, Hard Drive, and listing of boot disk priority. Save you change by exiting BIOS set with F10.

At this point you can choose R for repair.
windows should repair itself. Once done, PC will reboot and you should be good.

** if other files are suddenly missing or other weird things, I would recommend a new install of windows. You should have up to date files for antivirus and malware.

Installed new hdd still says no bootable devices

You need to install the OS (operating system). Insert the OS cd into the cd-rom and reboot. When it says "Press any key to boot from CD" press a button.. Then follow the on screen prompts to install the OS onto the hard drive.

Not powering up/power supply led goes out when plugging into into laptop

Step 1:

Try removing the battery of your laptop and try using the ac adapter/power supply alone.

Step 2:

Check your power supply's wiring if it's loose or have some signs of defects on it.

I want to put a new HDD into my C-610, Is there a limit on the size i can install?

These were sold with HDD's up to 40GB at the time, and the C610 Latitudes use good old 2.5" 9mm height ATA / IDE drives. Largest ones I've heard of is 2.5TB - although I've never seen one in person, nor have I ever seen any 1GB's. 100GB/120GB/160GB are the best deals out there now: you can still get them new, and the prices are fairly reasonable (around 50c per gig, give or take).

You can follow the steps listed in Dell's service manual for this model here:

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/latc610/sm_en/

Just click on the hard drive line - it's pretty simple and straightforward.

Dell Inspiron 8200 Won't Boot up. Not even to BIOS.

Latitudes sometimes have a problem with RAM. Try these things to get it to boot...
1. Remove the RAM modules, clean the contacts with a pencil eraser, reseat modules and test.
2. If two modules, remove one and test. Place same module in second slot and test.
