I know where to connect to the mother board. Needed to know the wire colors to LED's so not to destroy them. Hard to get to LED inside of switch assembly.
    Thanks, Ray

A user manual came with the board "P5QL-VM DO" It has pictures showing pinout of the connectors. Thanks for your help. I found the board at Overstock.com.
    Thanks, Ray

The Positive side of an LED is an Anode, the Negative side is a Cathode. If you hook the polarity backwards the LED will be dim. Reverse the connection. May I ask how you have the motherboard wiring diagram? Were you just an intelligent person, and made notes, and drawings before you disassembled, and/or is there a source for the motherboard manual? Would be interested in this information. Thanks, joecoolvette.

Isn't one available to my knowledge. If the computer was operable, there is a chance you could use the free, tiny, program CPU-Z to see what the motherboard manufacturer, and model is inside that Asus. Since it isn't operable look at the motherboard, and see if there is any manufacturer identifying number/letter code. With an Asus motherboard, the code usually starts out with a letter, followed by a number, then a letter. A few examples: A7N8X-E, P5LD2, P5PE-VM, K8V-MX. This manufacturer code would be printed on the motherboard in the middle, towards one edge, or possibly in-between the expansion slots. (Such as the white PCI slots) If this code is available, post it in a comment to me. From there I can try to see if a Motherboard Manual is available, and we'll know where the connections from The Front Panel go. Then it's just a simple matter to trace the wires on the Front Panel as to where they go. Power On switch, Power On LED, HarDDrive activity light, Reset switch, and so on. Barring that there IS no Asus manufacturer code on that motherboard, then you have to 'wing it'. You'll be looking for the Front Panel header on the motherboard, and there may be two of them. (Connector on a motherboard is a Header) Generally located on the edge of the motherboard. Should be one long rectangular Header with 2 rows of pins, or two Headers that have 2 rows of pins, and 10 pins total. (Usually has a missing pin in one corner of the Header, but this is not always the case) Most of the time for the older Asus motherboards, the Front Panel header is one long rectangular header. Location: Processor at the top, Ram Memory slots to the right, the FRT PNL header is located in the very bottom right corner. May, or may not have an abbreviation printed next to it. (Panel?) The header's length is parallel to the edge of the motherboard. In relation to the position of the ram slots, it sits perpendicular to the ram slots, or would be like an upside down T, with the ram slots being the middle of the T. The pins are in 2 rows going horizontally. Top row, with a bottom row underneath. There may be an tiny abbreviation of PWR next to the Power On switch pins. Usually located in the middle of the header. The pins will be stacked vertically. One in the top row, one in the bottom row. I await to see if you have the Asus motherboard manufacturer code, and also if you see the Front Panel header, and any possible abbreviations next to this header. Post in a comment. 2007 Ford F150 STX, I need the Wiring Diagram for Lights (Headlights, Running/Parking/Turn-Signal)

Go to either Autozone.com and register your vehicle for free, or alldatadiy.com for the same wiring diagrams. Powerbox layouts are also provided.

Now I want to add that if the new lights are like the HID factory type, you may need 2 Relays and heavier wiring to the lamps. Now sure if the Alternators are the same either.

I hope my solution helps.

Front panel pinout connections for ASUS A8M2N-LA (NodusM3

The Asus A8M2N-LA motherboard was made SPECIAL for HP.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00757531&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&product=3339286

As such Asus has no info on it.

Looking at the second link posted (Motherboard Specifications), scroll down to the bottom, and click right on - Motherboard Layout

Motherboard layout shown (Direction), is the same as is installed in your computer; Processor to the Top, white PCI slots to the Bottom, Ram Memory to the Right.

The plastic front of your computer is the Front Panel.
The area of contact pins on the motherboard, that the cables (Wires) go to from the Front Panel, is the Front Panel header.

Abbreviated F_PANEL 1, at the bottom right corner of the motherboard, is the Front Panel header.

There are 9 contact pins. Two rows.
Across the Top row they are numbered ODD.
Across the Bottom row they are numbered EVEN.

Coming from the Left side of the motherboard towards the right side, on the Top row;
Pins 1, 3, 5, and 7

Coming from the Left side of the motherboard towards the right side, on the Bottom row;
Pins 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10.

A) Pins 1 and 3 are for the HarDDrive activity LED light.
Pin 1 is for the Positive wire. ( + )
If the HDD LED is dim when operating, switch the wires around.

B) Pins 5 and 7 are for a Reset switch, IF a Reset switch is used.

C) Pins 2 and 4 are for the Power On LED light.
Pin 2 is for the Positive wire.

D) Pins 6 and 8 are for the Power On switch.

I have purchased a Thermaltake V3 black case and am trying to install my M2N68-LA motherboard. The motherboard has a combined 9 pin header for power switch, power l.e.d. and hdd l.e.d. which was one plug...

1) The 9-pin header you are referring to, is the Front Panel header.

(Processor to the top, Ram Memory slots to the right, the Front Panel header is at the bottom right corner on the motherboard)

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00906129&lc=en&cc=de&dlc=&product=3397528

The plastic piece on the front of your computer is the Front Panel.
(Sometimes referred to as a Bezel)

Make a drawing, and notes as to where the individual wires go from that Front Panel header plug, (One-piece plug), to the Front Panel.

Follow the wires from the plug to the Front Panel.

Mark down where Each wire goes.

You may have to take components off of the Front Panel, in order to see exactly where Each wire goes.

For example:
You may have to remove the Power On button/switch assembly from the Front Panel.

It may have the Power On LED light, Power On button, (Switch), and perhaps the HarDDrive LED activity light, in this assembly.

The wires are color coded.

Generally, but not always, when two wires are used in conjunction with each other, (Example, Power On switch, or Power On LED light), the wires will be twisted together.

One wires insulation may be of a solid color, and the other wire may be white, with a stripe in the color of the solid wire.

Example: Wire with Red color, and wire twisted with it may be White, with a Red stripe.

See if these two wires go to the Power On switch.
End of example.

Follow each twisted pair of wires back down to the Front Panel header plug.
(One-piece plug)

See which socket holes the individual wires go to.
Mark it down in your drawing, and notes.

Mark where the individual socket holes plug onto each pin, in that Front Panel header. (9-pin header)

When you are finished, you will have a pinout for the Front Panel header on the Asus M2N68-LA motherboard, and will know where the individual wires go from your ThermalTake V3 computer case.

For the LED lights there is a Positive pin, ( + ), and a Ground pin. (Power On LED, and Harddrive activity LED, for example)

(Ground. Also referred to as the Negative pin. ( - )
This is DC Voltage)

If you have the polarity backwards, (Positive wire of the LED light is going to the Ground pin, Ground wire of the LED light is going to the Positive pin), the LED light will be dim.

(When operating)
Switch the wires around.

If you have questions, or need clarification of what I have stated above, simply state in a Comment.
