Wow, Rylee, thank you so much for the thorough response!

We opened up the television's back and noticed parts CM 852 and CM 853 are slightly bulged at the top. These are 1000uF 10V capacitors. We purchased 1000uF 35V capacitors from the electronics store and are going to attempt to solder these in, but worry they might be too large.

Any tips on this particular fix or soldering suggestions please? I could use anything right now!

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems the issue is with the power board or the main board we’ll need to check few things. When you open the unit up; take a look at the power board-the board where, the power cords/plugs goes into. You might see some filter capacitors a little bulged up in the top-If this is the case-this is your defective part(you can try to replace them-but some soldering equipment is needed). If not, then probably the main board has gone bad. This is the other board-where all he inputs are going into. Also check for the Backlight Inverter Board if the sound is coming fine from the TV however as its shutting off so it should be either the power board or the main board. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise and know how to solder/re-solder components.
. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Yes you are right that 1000uF 35V capacitors might be too large and should be replaced only with 1000uF 10V capacitors. Thanks for accepting the solution.

Monitor wont turn on

Usually the capacitors are 1500uF/25V and 470uF/25V, but I suggest to use 35V capacitors. This will make your power supply to last forever. Also, you better open the monitor and see by yourself what kind are the capacitors. Mind the polarity or the capacitors will blow out with lot of smoke. You can buy them from local parts store like or online.

My LCD TV Series 530 keeps on blinking and would not turn on. why does it keep doing that?

I've experienced similar issues with a 42" Samsung LCD TV. From what I've read online, I believe it could be a problem in the circuitry of the power supply. Apparently, Samsung used under rated capacitors in the power supply and the result is a turn on delay or blinking on and off. If this is the case, then the capacitors would need to be replaced to fix the issue.

Ok I have a Samsung SPK4215 42 in. Plasma TV, what happening is when I turn it on it won't come on, just green light come for 3 second and turn to flashing red light, then i use the Remote control, to turn...

The most common issue with these are the power supplies that were made with bad capacitors. All makes and most models are effected by this. Here is something to read on this issue.

They can be fixed or replaced, but if you don't replace all the capacitors with a newer better type you will be repairing this again.

Can't turn on tv with remote or manually

The issue you describe is consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to. This problem may have occurred as a result of irregular power supply, or excess power supply or power surge.

The TV is receiving current but cannot circulate or transfer the current to other necessary part of the TV because of the defective power supply board.

I do not think it needs replacement, rather some defective capacitors are causing this issue.
Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.

The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)

You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.

What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).

You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like ""(look for electrolytic capacitors).
After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored.

Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.

If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.

I hope this helps.

Good luck.

The TV does not turn on right away. when turned on, the screen stays blank and it clicks.

You've got bad capacitors in the power supply. This is a know issue, unacknowledged by Samsung. Get the capacitors off Ebay for five buck. View the youtube video on how to do it. I did mine and it works fine.

Samsung LN-T4661F - When I turn the T.V. on, it makes the clicking noise like it wants to turn on - it keeps clicking and finally comes on after about 2 minutes - it seems the time for it to come on keeps...

In this case, I believe it is the power supply board; more specifically the capacitors are failing. When you have the clicking problem and the long boot up times this has generally been the issue.

When you have video display problems such as shadows and lines that go away after warming up it is usually the LVDS cable and T CONN board going bad.

I had the shadow and line problem and replaced both the cable and board for $120 and that fixed my problem. Since I had the TV apart, I went ahead and replaced the capacitors so I wouldn't run into that later. You can find the parts numbers for the LNT4661F cable and board below. You can find links to you tube ( Part 1 & 2) to show how to replace the capacitors. Good luck.
