Question about Dryers

1 Answer

The dryer was working and the electricity went off and came back on while I was outside. I thought it was done, took out the lothes and put in new wet clothes, turned the timer knob and hit the button. It didn't work. After listening, I could hear the timer moving. I let it stand still for several hours bnut still doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Try resetting the dual breakers for the dryer in the house electrical panel--push off, then on. Power surges from the utility can cause the breakers to trip. If this doesn't help, then you probably have a problem within the dryer. Good luck!

What do i do next to fix check screen to go off and dryer to work for kenmore elite he3 electric #110-82822-102 electric

Check the probe inside the plenum. It's a temperature sensor that is a little metal probe sticking out in the plenum that the screen goes into. Make sure the large metal hose on the rear of the dryer is clear including the flap going to the outside before you commit to taking the dryer apart. All sensors fail in the safest condition. They're cheap and can be purchased online.

Can you put a cycling thermostat for a drier on backwards. I took one out and not sure which way it went back on.

As long as the wires are connected to the correct terminals, it should work as it is supposed to.

Dryer gets hot to the touch

If you didn't install new venting I'd start by checking the vent hose from the back of the dryer to the outside vent hood to make sure there is no blocked airflow. Could be something else but that is where I'd look first. Good Luck.

Hello Chritena,
Based on your description.. I'll throw some ideas at you for you to try.. Not sure if you have an electric or gas dryer but that shouldn't make a difference .. Try unhooking the exhaust for a few minutes and start the dryer.. If it is a gas dryer.. do this with plenty of ventolation since the byproduct of gas combustion is unhealthy.. If it is electric.,.it isn't healthy but it isn't bad either.. let the dryer run until you feel good hot air flowing out.. If the flow is weak then chances are you have either a blower problem or restriction in the blower system inside the dryer,, If you get good hot air flow, then you probably have a restriction in your ductwork or the outside vent cap itself.. These are the main areas to check.. let me know the outcome of these checks and if they fail to resolve the problem.. will dig a little deeper.. Next time, please provide the model number too.. it helps focus in on the specific details...

Dryer screen shows 8.8. when I go to dry a load of clothes and won't work

We had the same problem - you might try and hit the panel with a blow dryer to heat it up if it's in a cold garage - it may buy you some more time - It took mine 2 yrs to go out completely - when it finally did - I took out the curcuit board and found dark discoloration around the cluster of four resistors - after reading dozens of posts from multiple sites, decided to replace those four resistors and the three main capacitors in the same area just to cover all bases. And for only a few bucks - it works like new again!!! A service call could cost you @$300 - $500 from what other are saying! eek if that's really the case!
