this indications that you have a problem with convergence. first try to go into customer menu...setup....convergence. and see if the convergence will adjust.. if it wont then you have a problem with the convergence cuircit boards.

SOURCE: Hi I have a 52

Hello clara7,

This denotes a convergence problem. I would suggest that first you enter the menu of your TV ad try to do an auto converge on your set, if this does not work I would suspect that the convergence ICs have gone bad and need to be replaced. I would suggest that you have a qualified TV repair technician replace the convergence ICs in this set.I hope this helps,Shuttle83

SOURCE: The picture on my RCA HDTV R52WH74 flipped out.

TO REPAIR... 1. Warning. this set can generate leathal dangerous voltages even unplug do not attempt if you have no experence with electronics.
2. Remove the back. there a number of torx 20 screws.
3. what you will see is a number of circit boards There will be one on the right and one on the left. the one on the right is the small signal board. the one on the left is called the power deflection board. it has a large black part with a big red or black wire coming from the top, this is the flyback.Next to the flyback on the right of it there will be three small rectangular componets tan or brown in color. these are fuses. the one in the middle is the fl231 fuse it should be labeled that right on the board.
4. getting to this fuse can be difficult. these two cuicit boards sit on a tray that is removable. to remove this tray it is pulled out and up. BUt watch the wires.loosen the wire tyes.
5 when you get the tray up the bottom side of the board can be accessed
you will now have to unsolder that fuse. one side of this fuse is under a plastic part of the tray. i have found the easest way is to cut away the plastic to get to it. if you dont want to do this you will have to remove the board. only remove half of the plastic brace
6. REPLACE FUSE RCA PART 259213 or you can goto radio shack and get a inline fuse holder and get the smallest glass fuse they have witch is .75amp witch is 500ma and all together cost about $5.00
7 RESOLDER FLYBACK CONNECTIONS or both ends of the inline holder simply heat up and add a little solder
8 reassemble set. make sure you examine the set for loose connections.
9 and remember "BE Careful'

Blue lines flash across the screen and color is yellowish on SD-643HD5

It sounds like a convergence problem---a lot of shops will not work on the set you have (that brand) as they are difficult to get parts or even technical support from.

The convergence is most likely--simple to prove==when bad go to menu and select convergence--if blue way off and or skewed it is your problem.

I worked on a number of these and when they would come in other techs would decline to fix them--I got familiar with them and my boss was glad someone would fix them as they were expensive sets when new.

We had someone "Deposit" one with the remote and full service manual outside our shop and I fixed that one also===crazy as the dual manuals were over 100 each and the set was 16X9 Hd.

When you turn the set on the Red, green and blue color bars appear on the screen. The blue bar is distorted and the red and green bars are horizontal across the screen.

SD-643HD5 Pioneer 64 in. I can only guess what your problem is with the information you have given. The most likely problem you have is convergence since this makes the best sense with the information. This involves changing the convergence IC's (two) inside the set and possibly a resistor or two if open. It involves unsoldering the 18 pin IC's and soldering in new ones not to mention changing the resistors with the correct value. Convergence problems is a common problem in rear projections set. You must possess the skills necessary. However, if you attempt to do it I will give you the best instructions I possibly can: The IC's are located on a metal heat sink which is usually aluminum and are black and about 4 inches by 2 inches with 18 pins each. There are two of them side by side on the heat sink. You have to get the number off of them and is usually started with STK 392- and another number. Enter the number in a google search to find price and place to order. You should have no problem ordering yourself from a number of selected companies. The resistors are a cylinder shaped component with a metal connection on each end and has a color code. You must use the same code as a replacement. Sometimes the number will be on the resistor. Can be identified if open by the markings burned off of it. You can get the value from a good one that is corresponding in the same circuit usually in a pair side by side. If you possess the skills of unsoldering and soldering then you can do it. Be careful not to break the printed circuit on each pin when unsoldering and do not make a solder bridge between pins when soldering the pins. After installing you may need to adjust the convergence with the menu to the cross hatch that will appear on the screen when you get to the proper section in the menu. I hope this helps. Just be patient and don't rush and you will succeed

Pioneer 65" TV Model # SD-643HD5 won't power up.

I would suggest replacing the board itself, chances are what caused those fuses to blow is still faulty. did you check those fuses again after you powered it back up?

The blue and red colors look almost like old school 3d image. Is this a common problem ? how do you fix it

It is called convergence problem. Model indicated uses a single convergence chip for this. I will attach photo of the part; part on EBAY is well under 20 dollars.

Part is a STK-393-110.

The good news is I have start to finish, step by step instructions for the do it yourself person for this repair.

If you want the instructions which tell everything you will need and how to do the repair rate this solution as very helpful and let me know how to get them to you.

I had the same problem which was caused by a bad solder connection on my Green CRT driver board. The fix isn't too difficult if you've had some soldering experience.

1) Determine which CRT is going out (Reg, Green, or Blue). Looking at your convergence adjustment screen will help.
2) Unplug TV
3) Remove the front panel
4) Locate the driver board attached to bottom of the bad CRT.
5) Locate the two large heatsinks on the driver board, each has a transistor attached to it.
6) Touch-up the three solder connections on each transistor. Adding some new solder helps.
