Kenmor dryer Series 80 110 668 14690

My dryer will start and run a couple of minutes ,drying normally, it will then shut down. It will restart, each time getting shorter, until it will not restart.
I can repeat after a period of say 10 minutes

    The dryer will start and run for a little while and shut off after ten minutes or so, being restarted after it shuts down gets about ten minutes of drying each time. I felt either something would be stopped up or the machine over heating due to some type of safety device. after opening the back I am not seeing any excess lint inside so I remain clueless.

Based from your story, you are tiggering a thermal overheat protection device. as the device heats up, it would trip off the dryer, and comes back on again after a few minutes but as the heat increases, the device is being triggered faster until the device would no longer trips back because the dyer is so hot that it would take about 10 mins to cool down. i think this is just a secondary problem, your primary problem could be lack of air passing through the heating element. please check the stroller blade for dirt of flint and debri, check also the outlet duct, it could be clogged with flint also. i hope i was able to solve your problem.

Maytag Centennial Gas Dryer: Only runs in "Air Fluff" setting. If any other setting (Normal Dry / Timed Dry) are used the dryer shuts down immediately. If I force the dryer to run by holding down the start...

Hello Kevin;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

When you run your dryer on fluff you are not using heat. The burning smell is when you use normal dry and the lint starts to burn. This will shut your unit down.

You just need a good cleaning. Nothing major. Send me your model number and I will help you.

Kenmore 700 series Dryer shuts down after a few minutes in heated cycle, runs forever with no problem in Air Dry (no heat) mode, I disassembled the entire machine drum, motor, vents and removed every spec...

Brian, look inside your drum for some curved strips of metal that may be 6-8 inches in length. There may be two of them that run parallel to each other about half an inch apart. This is your moisture sensor. If you use dryer sheets like a lot of people do you may have an issue where there is a build up of residue from the dryer sheets on the sensors. Take some rubbing alcohol and some cotton balls or a rag and wipe down the sensor strips. If they come back blue in color there is build up on the strips. Keep wiping down until you no longer get any blue color. That build up can make the dryer think that the clothes are dry and shuts the dryer down. Hope this helps, I have done this on a couple of different dryers and it made a big difference.

Dryer starts fine after a couple of minutes shutts of, I have to restart it several times untill clothes are dry.

most dryers have a sensor that is supposed to shut off auto matic when clothes are dry look at your choises on the dry temperture. one of them usually have automatic whites auto colors etc. the sensor sounds like it went bad. most of them are near the exhaust measures the moisture level to test it remove the wire or wires. then try running the dryer for a little while.

Maytag LDG 712 shuts off before clothes are dry.

First, The most common part would be the over limit safety, it will be mounted to the element housing. Second, there is a thermal fuse usually a small disk with a little fuse inside. You can find these (with your model no.) at .Good luck.
