Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Anyone know about the AKG E-1000 microphone? Directionality? Know what the B/M/S switch is for? How will this mic do with being plugged straight into the input of a guitar amplifier?

Hi,

Isn't a AKG C-1000 ?
If you Google that model you'll find all the info you need.

I have recently bought an AKG Perception 120 microphone and plan on recording through GarageBand on my Macbook Pro, but no sound is coming through. please help!

You say you have a XLR to USB adapter....so the version of the 120 you have is the regular XLR version, right? Well if it is, it needs what's called "phantom power" to work. It looks like they have a straight USB version of this mic, and that's what you should have gotten if you didn't want to use anything else. If you still want to use this mic as is, I would recommend a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. I have one and it's great. I do have a pc though and I'm not sure about Mac. But it's a usb powered preamp that gives you two mic pre's along with headphone amp, and a volume control for your speakers and has phantom power built in. Great unit and around $120. NFI.

Hum which is made worse on touching top half of mic. clearly an earthing matter. engineer has checked bottom half but does not know how to get into top half.

I have the same mic, same problem. I disassemled the mic, put it back together, and the problem fixed itself. I can't explain exactly why.
To disassemble the top part of mic, turn the 2 plastic posts inside the mic clockwise.

What is the switch for on the Phantom power unit at the end of my AKG C747?

Hi,the switch for the phantom power on the microphone is to activation of the mic.Without the phantom being activated, the mic will not work.

It can only be activated with a mixer console that has a phantom activation on it. After connecting the mic to the mixer, activate the phantompoweronthe mixer and switch on the phantom power on the mic,and problem solved.

Note: Mic will not work if no phantom activated on the mixer.

My akg perception 200 is not responding

Have you tried using a another XLR cable..,or are the other mics phantom powered condensers..ie try to locate if its a mic problem or the cable..2 other points are 1 - XLR leads for phantom mics need to be XLR to XLR male to Female plugs[ends] 2- is that often an XLR to XLR cable will be not soldered or wired right,so that the power [phantom power is not getting to the mic] so ensure you have a proper cable for that job...Sorry i can't be more specific but from reading your problem all these issues come to mind..If you have ruled all these things out, then it could be the capsule or loose joint or component in the mic which means contact AKG,pro audio services or find a DIY mic person to help..G luck!!

AKG Perception 200 Mic stopped working. I use it

The simple thing to check would be to see if your 48V phantom power switch on your mixer is turned on. Sometimes there is an individual button to turn it on and off for each channel strip. Good Luck

C 518 ML Isnt Working

Make sure that you are supplying phantom power. This mic requires it. Without phantom power, the mic will appear to be dead.

Let me know if that resolves the problem.

AKG Perception 100 not working, at all

The problem is that your amp probably doesn't have phantom power. This mic requires phantom power to be supplied to it via the XLR connector. Most mixers and mic pres have that feature, but most guitar amps do not, I believe. Hope that helps...
