Hi,
Please first try reseting it.This usually fixes the error code problem.
For that you have to refer some user guide. You can download it from HERE

If you want to try reinstalling the driver then go ahead. But first uninstall the previous driver then reinstall it.You can download the driver from HERE
Once you are at the site just click on Accept then the download will start..

The hard drive needs to be replaced, have the unit serviced.

You could try reseating it's cables, remove the panels at the rear of the machine and you should see the hard drive mounted inside. Reseat the cables and cross your fingers. But most likely needs replacing. You can't just use any hard drive either since it needs to be properly formatted, that's why they can be expensive. You may find one on eBay, that may work. Good Luck!

Hi bev4u!

To get to the bottom of this issue we will need some more information about the error codes displayed by your system. 4d23 isn't helping much because it doesn't appear to turn up as a valid fault code for this model. If you can work back into the admin panel and report any other codes in the log, it would be great.

Additionally, is your machine owned or leased?

Lastly, please excuse the rude attitude and irrelevant posts by our other experts.

First try doing an hard reset. Disconnecting the xerox from power socket for 30 minutes and connecting it back.

Failure to leave at least 20 seconds between

repeated power OFF /ON can result in damage to the

DC440/432/420 hard drive. Probably this is what happened. The HD probably is not physically broken but the source software may need to be re installed by a xerox authorized centre.

here is the link to all documentation regarding your unit made available online by xerox

and Here is the contact number for USA and Canada. If you let me know your location I will find your Xerox service contact number.

  • Ginko
    Ginko Feb 21, 2008

You can also trace the number from www.xerox.com selectin your region after clicking contact us

The original code 4d23 was not HD failure. Was probably some code related to paper feeding (the ones staring with 4 in your model). You probably had HD failure after restaring the machine several times.

Let me know if this had been helpful or if you need further help.

Error code Oxc18a0001 I tried unplugging and replugging after 2 minutes. Removed cartridges. After turning back on error code still there.

The following steps are the summary of a conversation with HP Tech Support:
1. Press and hold "left arrow" key 2. Press the "setup" key and release both keys
3. Press and release the "OK" button
4.Press and release the right arrow button until the display says "System Configuration Menu". 2.Press and release the "OK" button.
5.Display should say "Hardware failure status". If not there already, Arrow Key over to "Hardware failure status",
6.Press and release the "OK" button.
7.Display should say "Hardware failure status: Clear. Press OK to clear".
8.Press and release the "OK" Button. Message changes to "Hardware failure status Cleared. Press Cancel to continue".
9.Press and release the "CANCEL" button as many times as necessary, so that, either the "Welcome to Photosmart Express" screen appears, or, the "Ink System Failure" screen appears. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO PRINT AT THIS STAGE.
10.Using the Power Button, turn the unit OFF and unplug the power cable from back of the printer and wall outlet.
11.Wait 30 seconds for the power to get discharged and then plug the power cable into the wall outlet first and then into the back of the printer
12.Turn the unit on. The printer may display message "USE POWER BUTTON TO SHUTDOWN THE PRINTER" followed by "PRESS OK TO CONTINUE". Press OK.
13.If the printer has already initialized, then go to the next step. If not, the printer will start the "ONE TIME INK INITIALIZATION PROCESS". Allow this process to complete and do not interrupt. Once the initialization process is complete, the printer will print out a Diagnostic Page.
14.To verify printer functionality print a SELF TEST PAGE. If SELF TEST prints, then printer is ready for use or Software Installation.
15.If the error is still there, or reoccurs the printer is already defective.

Let me know how you make out, and feel free to leave feedback. Thanks!

HP 8250 Photosmart printer that displays "system ink failure"

Try changing the ink cartridges.

If you installed the "HP Support Toolkit" software from the CD-ROM that came with the printer, use this Toolkit to "run a cleaning cycle".
It can print a "test" page, to show you which colours _do_ work, and which do _not_ work.

If all else fails, then find a qualified printer technician.

Lexmark X5470 powers on and off constantly

I encountered the exact same problem with my Lexmark X5470. After a power failure on Aug 20, the printer would reboot itself every few seconds. I unplugged the power cord and/or adapter for a few minutes and after replugging, it worked fine. However, the problem returns after I power off the printer and then turn it back on, in which case I unplug again for a few minutes. Hope this helps.
