You can try doing this: hold the "Fn" key and then press the different-color-numpad-enabling key (generally one of the function keys). now be warned that most of the laptops use a compact keyboard integrated with the numpad, so if you activate this function, some of your character keys will be turned into numpad-disposition keys. mostly the keys "u", "j" and "m" are changed repesctively into "4", "1" and "0".
