Question about FixYa Computers & Internet

1 Answer

2001 dodge caravan transmission problem. It's almost as if it's a bad or loose connection or moisture. The following problems are intermittant. speedometer and rpm gauge go out of control. Transmission selector led shows all ranges lit by the squares, e.g. park neutral drive ranges and reverse. Transmission wont shift through gear ranges. Its as if the computer misses abeat. electrical cutout. Is there somekind of sensor or module that might be going???? Help please

I have the same problem and it was fixed by replacing both speed sensors on the tranny, but it's now back again after 2 weeks. Let me know if you got yours fixed.

Not good if it makes a grinding noise. Needs a tech or replacement as something most likely has come loose inside the transmission.

Our 2001 Dodge Caravan seems to be leaking oil around drive shaft

Yes it's a bad seal and most likely the side bearing to the trans axle is bad too. Once the bearing has play, it vibrates and causes the oil to leak though the seal. Note: if one side went bad the other side is soon to follow since they have the same amount of miles on them. Might as well change both side. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep an eye on the transmission fluid level, don't want to burn out the transmission.

It seems like bad, dirty or loose wire harness connection somewhere in electrical circuit. This is very difficult to find if engine has problem intermittently. One method may resolve is to unplug wire contacts one by one inspect clean and re-plug. Inspect also all fuses if any loose seated, nad fuse case connections and support.
