How do I go about buying replacement plastic gears for my Royal SC800 Paper Shredder? The current ones are stripped, so that even though the motor is running, the shredder is not working.

I'm just trying to update this answer the number for parts is incorrect and I spent over 2 hours on hold without result. I then called the product support number and was re-directed to the sales number. When I called it I spoke to a very helpful rep who listened to my story and immediately transferred me to parts where the service technician was EXTREMELY helpful in identifying the part required and then taking an order to get the part shipped. The cost of the plastic gear was $3.16 I didn't ask what the shipping was...

1 or 2 gears are broken. royal doesn't make many replacement parts for their machines, might try calling royal at 1-800-222-2310. I would recommend replacing unit with a Fellows brand shredder. royal also makes Ativa brand- don't buy it either.
I have the same problem and upon removing the gears I found one that is plastic and worn pretty bad. Replacement parts can be purchased at 1-800-222-2310. Part # VF1012MX-08 Gear #2 I advise purchasing the metal one.
I have the SC800 apart. My problem is not fixing it. I just need the part. The large gear which appears to be made of pewter has a couple of teeth missing. If I could find the part I can fix it. It's a very simple machine. If you know where I can get the part I would appreciate you letting me know..
You probably have the same problem we do.....the unit vibrated some of the mounting screws loose, causing the gears to disengage slightly and then strip one of them (plastic).....hence, no movement of the shredder, even though the motor is fine. I myself am looking to Royal for a replacement gear. I don't want to have to buy another one and it beats throwing the whole thing out....what a waste! Maybe they should start using some glue on the mounting bolts!
