Question about Hotpoint Aquarius WD63 Front Load Washer/Dryer

No power to washing machine

Our washing machine simply won't start.  We've checked the plug fuses. How do we replace the fuse in the machine and if it's not that, what else might it be?

Nope, none. When we pressed the on button originally, there was a small blue flash behind it and the rest of the houses electricity went off so we think it may be a fuse issue.

If this machine is totally dead and it tripped your home electrics - (which is probably a 30amp fuse) means that it is likely a serious fault in the machine. :-(

Washing machines take out ring main fuses if there are faults in the washers heater unit, motor or suppressor. Also water may have breached a seal somewhere and cause a short inside the electrical compartments. The flash you saw was probably some sensitive electronics and any smaller internal fuse popping. It is possible that simply replacing internal fuse will result in doing more damage once power is restored.

To fix a fusing washing machine you have to use a diagnostic electrical meter that puts high voltage across the appliance - Not something I can offer more info on. So whatever has happened (and in the interest of safety) you would probably want a qualified proffessional to take a look or as a last resort a hotpoint engineer!

Kind Regards

My washing machine kkeps tripping my fuse box

This is related to a fault in the main control panel, it is possible there is a short if the fuse keeps tripping off. You need to remove plug and pull out the panel to check for short in the power supply to the main control panel usually a SMPS unit. Use a multimeter to check for short, if so this must be replaced.

Does anyone know how to check a fuse in my Bosch Maxx 1000 washing machine??

Try it in a different socket as it may not be the machine. The machine would have been factory fitted with a moulded plug, lift out the middle section and try a new fuse. If the unit failed after filling then possibly you have a short on the wash heater..you could verify this if you get power by setting a cold cycle or rinse and see if if completes it. Please also check that the consumer unit (main fuse box) has not been triggered.

Power won't come on

hi, i take it you've checked the fuse in the plug, there's usually a glass fuse inside the washer power supply not sure where the circuit board is located in your machine but they usually sit at the bottom of the machine if it has blown make sure you put the same rated fuse back in. if blows again the there's a dead short somewhere hope it helps

I've an Asko Front loader W600 bought in 2001. It's been excellent, but has been shuddering and moving a lot lately. Today the door won't open and there is no power. There is washing in...

Hi, welcome to FixYa.

I'll start by addressing the later part of your post first, and that is by saying I wouldn't run out and buy a new washer...not yet anyway.

You should be able to get the garments out of the washer by way of manually unlocking the door. The door can be opened manually, see below for instructions.

**Watch for lots of water if it hasn't drained though...see below for manually drain as well**

Usually if the door won't open it's due to the unit not draining sufficiently (this may explain the "shuddering" as well if pump has debris within it) or perhaps a fuse tripping, thus no power. Just to be thorough you should check the pump to insure the filter isn't clogged, in my opinion, or do you know where it is and how to check it ?

In the event the pump, filter or hose is clogged or obstructed, will prevent the door lock from releasing...potentially causing a fuse to trip.

This is by design, but it's easy to confirm or dismiss.

Check as follows...

macmarkus_23.jpg

Let me know if any of this isn't clear and I'll attempt to help you move forward by way of possibly emailing this info to you.

Once you've cleared the pump filter or ruled out it was indeed blocked or not, you can now pull the manual door lock release located in the same area.

i.e.

macmarkus_24.jpg

Once that has been done, I'd now check the fuses in both the washer as well as the dryer...if yours plugs into the dryer as most Asko do. To do so is as follows...

CHANGING THE FUSE

1. Remove the fuse holder insert with a screwdriver (1/4 turn).

2. Replace the fuse. (The fuse must be a 250V, 15amp slow-blow fuse.)

3. Fit the fuse holder insert with the fuse into the fuse holder.

Let me know how you make out. Thank you for choosing FixYa and good luck. Please take a moment to rate the info provided for you here today at FixYa.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Start your wash machine

If your washer doesn't seem to work at all, check these: No power Check to see whether power is getting to the washing machine. Is it plugged in? Has a fuse blown or is a circuit breaker tripped? Lid switch If the lid switch is defective, your washer can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washer to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it. Some machines have a special lid-switch fuse near the lid switch, inside the control panel. If this fuse blows, the unit won't fill with water until you replace the fuse.
