I have found the most common problems with the symptom you have described, to be the SMPS PCB. Sometimes the Y Main will cause the power supply to short out and lower a voltage in that area. Your set has a two year warranty. Call 1-800-Samsung to find an authorized servicer in your area.

SOURCE: i heard a pop noise

The 'POP' noise was likely a capacitor saying farewell.

If you are able, AND confident with electrics - take the TV apart (UNPLUG)

These TVs are very heavily populated with Surface Mount components - I suspect that you will likely find - what looks like a small can (half a centimetre in diameter, with 'candyfloss' coming out of it..)
YES - You could get a replacement from somewhere like Maplin / Radioshack......
Replacement will work - However...you really need to establish WHY it went Pop, and get to the root cause (Excess power feed / drain)
Realistically - without sounding too negative . . other components would have also been affected but not necessarily killed.

Good Luck.

SOURCE: pioneer plasma 50 inch tuner

The power supply in the media box is usually the most likely culprit.

Dismantle the media box and remove the LARGE power supply board and check for dry solder joints. Where the heatsink is soldered onto the board the joints may be in a bad way. This is usually a symptom of the fact that the media boxes for V3 Pio's get very hot - all that expanding and contracting is likely to create dry solder joints. Taking the box apart shouldn't be a problem for anyone with a reasonable level of IT type skills!

Resolder the joints and you should be good to go. Whilst I can't guarantee that this is the definitive fix for this problem it seems to work for a while and is just a problem that many of these units have.

hi,
You have to check the power supply board. Its a common problem with the power supply of the Pioneer PDP. As it is using smd coponnents there is no repair possible with the power supply . You have to replace the power supply board with a new one. You can find the part number in the board. Serch with the part number to find a new board.

What we need are the circuit designations for the parts in question. There should be a number on the PC board either nest to or under the actual part. Post those numbers here and I'll look up the parts. These should be Dxxx or ZDxxx or something similar.
