Problem with HP DeskJet 9800 InkJet Printer

My Deskjet 9800 has both cartridge lights flashing. I've put in new cartridges and ensured that they are properly seated. I cannot print a test page.

    • I followed the instructions, but no difference.

    • Thanks. The cartridges are new HP cartridges. I've cleaned all the contacts as you suggested, just in case. But I still have the same problem. I can't print a test or diagnostic from the control buttons, either.

you will need to replace the carriage assembly because the cartridge has punched a small hole in the circuit contact board, which broke the circuit

    • is just that. I checked with a magnifier glass and that is what I found: a small hole in the right circuit board right down corner, Do u think that I can order that part? I'm gonna try.

Turn the printer off, disconnect the power, remove the ink cartridges, power it back on and wait a minute. Power off, put the ink back and power on. Let me know

    • The other things that could be doing this are using refilled ink cartridges, old cartridges, third party cartridges,

Make sure that the contacts to the cartridges are clean and the plastic film is removed. You can use a q-tip and alcohol to clean them.
