Hi,

NOTE : steps below are only for a Dell monitor
There could be two reasons for the same,
1. The monitor settings are bad or
2. The monitor has gone bad.

Request you to disconnect the monitor signal cable from the back of the computer (cable with the blue jack)

A self test feature check would run on the screen. If the screen is bright in the feature check . The monitor has gone bad and needs a replacement.

If the screen appears ok in the self test . Press the menu button on the monitor and select factory reset.

Thanks
Proton

If the color is changing on the different areas of the screen. The screen would have to be replaced.

Dell generally gives 3 yr. warranty on there flat panel monitor. If you have bought the monitor separately from the computer.

    Thanks
    porton

How do I make my kindle fire screen brighter?

Adjusting Screen Brightness The screen on the Kindle Fire uses more power than anything else, and the brighter the screen, the more battery power it uses. To increase battery life, you can lower the brightness of the display.
Unlock the rest of this book. Swipe the status bar down to open the Settings drawer.
Unlock the rest of this book. Tap Brightness.
Unlock the rest of this book. Slide the brightness control to the right to increase brightness and to the left to decrease brightness.

Brighter display on the left side of monitor than the other side

Sounds like the lcd screen might be going bad. There are no display settings that can modify parts of the screen. It's all or nothing as far as settings go. Have you tried hooking up an external monitor to see if it displays correctly? If it shows correctly on an external monitor the problem is definitely with the lcd screen. If they both show the same image of brightness on the left side, then your video card in the laptop might be going bad.

Hello,

This type of monitor problem is usually cause by a failure of the capacitors in the power supply board. What is happening is the power supply is not starting up correctly so the back lights are not coming up to full brightness. Here is a link to a repair guide that will show you how to dis-assemble the unit and repair the power supply board. http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/repairing-the-samsung-225bw-22-monitor/
If you can do a little soldering then you can do the repair yourself.

Dell E171FPb monitor turns on, but that's it

Hi Letneper,

Hope this will give you hints. Some monitors have standby mode or screen saver feature and or self test feature when not connected to video input of your PC or CPU. Except this problem did not occur at first use. You can turn this off like other monitors manually at OSD (on-screen display) settings if available. No more no less if it works fine with PC or CPU on then there's nothing to worry.

Best regards,
Rosener Guyano
