Hello Dear

  • Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
  • 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
  • 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
  • 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
  • 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
  • 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

Why does the screen read card error

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". The most common cause is having the tiny slide switch on the side of the card in the wrong position. The second most common is trying to use a 4GB or higher SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. There are also other common causes if the above didn't help, with troubleshooting steps for this problem listed here.

SCREEN SHOWS---MEMORY CARD ERROR--I CANNOT LOCATE ANYTHING IN THE BOOK RE: THIS

    Hello eilo311,

It is possible that there might be corrupted files on your memory card or it is also possible that your memory card is already malfunctioning and needs replacing and some other reasons. BUT the important thing is let us FIX that error. Do you have a memory card reader? Transfer ALL important files from your memory card to your computer and then format you memory card USING YOUR DIGITAL CAMERA. It is VERY important to format your memory card (especially if it is the first time you use it on your camera) so it will be compatible.

If that doesn't solve your problem, please reply here and indicate the brand and model of your digital camera and some more details regarding your problem so I can advice you what to do next.

The second most common is trying to use a 4GB or higher SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Please note that your particular model camera can only use up to 2GB standard SD cards. These are relatively inexpensive these days, and may be purchased on Amazon if your local store no longer carries them. My new 4g memory card will not let me use it, say memory error

    Hi there!
Since this is a new memory card, the first thing that you can do is to format the memory card through the camera menu.
If that doesn't work, try another memory card. If that card doesn't show the error then your new memory card is the problem.
    Hope this helps.

    "format error" message

    Hi,
Reinsert memory card in camera and try to format it. If that does not help then check with new memory card as old memory card could be defective.
    Thanks.

Problem with SD card, Canon Ixus 100 IS

Could be the camera isn't seeing/reading the card properly.

I'd check the contacts on the card, and in the camera are clean, free of grease & dust.

Rather than do anything drastic, Have a look at the Canon website and or contact them, Details below.
