Memory stick means it has usb interface you can connect directly into the computer's usb port.
But for memory card you need card reader to access it from computer.
Both are used for save data.
So main difference is that memory stick don't need card reader for access it but memory card need card reader .
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Sony dsc-w200 camera works fine until memory stick is installed

Memory sticks now have two types regular and HC. The memory stick is either nor or nand? The new high capacity nand flash cards can not be use in older cameras. Older cameras also have limits on the capacity that it can access. Read your manual to check out the size of memory stick it can use. Most stores sell large capacity memory sticks only good for new digital cameras. you may have to buy older flash cards on ebay.

Saving Music to Memory Sticks

Memory sticks, memory cards and even USB thumb drives all get attached by Windows as a drive. Pull up Windows Explorer (file manager on Mac). Navigate to My Computer level. THis will show all drives attached including hard drives, connected USB drives and connected memory sticks/cards. You may not be sure which is which unless the drive was labeled with the cards branding. One way to determine is go to lower right task area and click on the 'safely remove hardware' icon (green arrow). Select safely remove hardware from pop-up menu. Check the box for Display device component. This should populate the window above with the actual names of the devices along with the assigned drive letter. Now that you know which one, open Windows Explorer, navigate to My Computer level and the select the drive letter. You can drag and drop files to and from this window to take files on and off the memory card/stick/USB drive. You can also right click on the drive letter and choose properties to see how much room you have on the card.

Memory stick for Sony Mavica FD92

Most older digital cameras do not work when you try to use a memory stick adapter and the newer, smaller size memory sticks. Because this memory format is so old that it is no longer sold in retail stores, your best option is to buy a memory stick online. You can find these memory sticks on eBay.

To find more eBay auctions for these memory sticks, go to the Memory Cards category on eBay. Then, on the left side select Format = Memory Stick, and Storage Capacity = 64MB and under.

In the resulting search, only look at the auctions that are actually for 64MB and under Memory Sticks - you will find a lot of mis-classified memory in the search results - items that are the wrong format (not memory sticks) or too large to work in your camera.

Unable to upgrade RAM......

Sounds like they are 2 significantly different speed memory sticks. Normally, the faster of the two sticks will "clock down" to match the slower stick.

Without knowing the motherboard and memory stick specifications, it's hard to tell, but it's most likely a speed issue.

In the case of the SONY stick. Yes. The original sticks were too slow for some applications.
